front tires

got a 2010 rts and feel the front tires need replaced. are there any sizes that wont have problems with the nanny. also is there a brand and style that has been tested and reccomended by others that have tryed other sizes??

personally, i'm running KUMHO's up front, as well as the rear... with exceptional performance from both...
Front are: KUMHO Solus HM, P175/65R14, Rear is: KUMHO AST, 225/50R15....

Not only that, but with a 2010 RT-S you should get JUST around 24,000 miles on your front OEM's.

.... That may be true if you live in the land where a twisty is an On-Ramp...

but, where I live the twisties start a mile from my house... and, yes, my 2012 Ltd is starting to show serious wear on the front tires with only 10,000. mi!

I just ordered 2 of the few remaining Bridgestone Potenzas to be ready to replace the front tires next season. I already replaced the rear with a Toyo Proxes.

let me ask if you change a front tire and replace it with other than a OEM name should you than change both tires not to have two different brands on the front

I am not a tire expert by any means of the word.

I thing other more experienced people will chime in later on their expertise.

My suggestion would be that different brands would be ok given they are similar tread design (directional / highway / off road traction tires).

Most definitely the tires should be the same exact size in with and height.

Other than that you would have to look at the 2 different tread patterns

never, and i mean NEVER use two different front tires... not even a good idear for cars... tires are cheap enough...

Did you have the Bridgestone Potenzas on your list for front tires?
I know that firefly is using a set right now; he seems to like them!
They do come in the OEM sizing also...

I have the Potenzas which I had installed at 15000 miles in July.Since then I did a 4700 mile trip to Nova Scotia as well of lots of rydes and they are excellent.

I only got about 17 K out of my front tires and 20k out of the back, but I believe most vehicle people say never to use different brands on the "same axle".
It makes sense to me. No two tire brands are compounded the same and under extreme ( serve to avoid a wreck), they would react differently.

Like Jack did, I also ordered a pair of the few remaining Bridgestone Potenzas 165/65R14 tires from The Tire Rack and have them in hand and ready to be installed at my 14,600 mile service, which will be in another month at our current ryding rate.

My OEM tires have had an inherent wobble at about 42 mph since day one and I have finally decided to do away with them.

I am also having trouble finding tires. Every time I look it up P165/65 - R15 comes up. Can I use that size? I thought the r-14/15 was the rim size.

that a quick Google search turned up a bunch of tires in 165/65-14.

Tire Rack and Discount Tire both stock the Bridgestone Potenza 165/65R14. We also stock them and have installed many sets. Great tire for the older Spyders that have 14" wheels.
