    Default Black Motorcycle Club

We went to Tunica Mississippi on Friday 8/2/2013, we went for the Casinos, when we entered Mississippi we encountered motorcycles everywhere. Turns out we wound up right in the middle of "National Bikers Roundup", there were beautiful bikes everywhere. It soon became obvious that this was a rally geared toward black american bikers, and as one of the very very few "White Boys" in the Crowd we kind of stood out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, But that was really cool because we had one of the few Spyders there also, we garnered a lot of interest and met some really cool people who were there for the same reason that we go to Spyderfest, Spyderquest, Owners events, Lamonts Great BBQ and other events. the literature said that they hoped for 20,000 bikes, whether they reached that number or not i have no idea, but they were a lot of fun and we had a blast. They had groups from all over the United States. I just want to put out a shout to all of them, they were fantastic people.

We have 2 rallies in late May here in Myrtle Beach. 1st is Harley (and everyone else) followed the next week by BBW (Black Bike Week) at Atlantic Beach. It is a small historically black town between Myrtle and N. Myrtle Beach. You really do not want to be around here for that there are a lot of problems that have occurred during that week. Nothing against them but they act like idiots riding wheelies on the main highways throwing garbage everywhere and carrying their ladies on back wearing thongs. Public nudity and worse happen too

did not see any of that in Mississippi and we were there for 2 days, the difference could be what the local towns allow. This group of people were super nice and a little bit older.

    Cool For the most part

Think most are just plain motorcycle enthusiasts. I have found through the years that we have enthusiasts, bikers, and biker trash amongst us. I consider myself an enthusiastic biker as most of the time I would rather be riding then sitting around complaining about this hurt or pain I woke up with.

This crowd is younger crouch rocket riders. Some really nice bikes and am sure most are good people but a few ruin it for everyone. They are why MB tried to restrict the SC helmet laws and run the rallies out of town but the State Supreme court revoked their laws and things are getting back to same ole same ole. Harley week is a much nicer older crowd for the most part. Youngsters can't afford a Harley (or Spyder RT) these days.

Thumbs up Glad to hear it...

I have been getting information about the national bikers roundup via their Facebook page. Everything that I have read and heard points toward this being a pretty decent and respectful gathering. Everything from the advertising to the events scheduled seem to have a maturity to them. I completely understand the hesitation about going to an event that clearly seems to be catered to the black biker experience. I have that same hesitation, from the opposite perspective, when thinking of checking out some of the more known biker events. Whether it be because I ride a spyder or any of the other differences there is always a little thought in the back of the mind saying "how will this go?". Hearing your experience is like a breath of fresh air and in my opinion is how it should be. Our race, music style, or type of motorcycle shouldn't be an issue because the thing that connects us is our love for the open road.

The advertisement for BLack BIke Week shows the kind of atmosphere that it will be. Yes there will be some custom bikes but a large majority of the people there are there for the atmosphere. Every video I have seen is promoting the women more than the bikes. I am not here to judge that and when I was younger cant say I wouldn't have been interested in that scene. I think the concept of Black Bike Week is great, but it is disappointing to me as a novice in the bike world that this is one of the first events that come to the forefront. I assure you there are some black motorcycle guys who are all about the ride and performance of their bike. Unfortunately for us all in the human race there are good and not so good representations.

Bet you felt the same way I felt when I was invited to an all black church service. A friend invited me and he introduced me to everyone and I was welcomed but I knew I was more than just a stranger and was the odd one there. For the first time I knew what blacks felt most of the time I think. Made me appreciate their experience a little better I too I believe. I really wish we could all get along but there are those that want no part of it which is a shame. Jackson and Sharpton for example and they gather more. Glad you had a good time with some cool folks.

If you got to Beale St. on Wednesday nights during riding season... it is the same thing. We see many different races and cultures, but Joe's description of Tunica's event is exactly the same. This area of the mid-south is very predominant...
But if you ride, you ride! As long as everyone gets along, we are all the same!

Alot of that goes on at Daytona Bike week and Spring Break in Florida. Young people white or black are always finding ways to annoy their parents just like we did as kids.

It's weird but biking seems to be one area where racism seems to take a back seat to what is going on. Now how do we get it to spread?

The National Association of Buffalo Soldiers And Troopers Motorcycle Club (N.A.B.S.T.M.C) is a majority African American organization. They are well respected and you will not find them acting the way some of the bikers act during the Myrtle Beach Bike week.

    Thanks Bob,

I road with a group of Spyder Riders this Sunday to a historical town in Lynchburg, TN, It was a great ride. When we pulled into the town, I quickly realized that I seem to be the only African American there. I admit; I was a little nervous about how they might have felt about me being there. I had no such anxiety with my fellow Spyder Riders, they were very friendly. A group from Nashville TN, road down to meet us in Lynchburg, TN and they also arrive with one African American so that made two of us. We ate lunch at a barbecue place and had a great time. I truly understand how you might have initially felt when you arrived.

My committee to the Myrtle beach event, there are good and bad in every race of people.
