We agree! Just talked to the HWY patrol last weekend at a Starbucks...They stated that if if has a Motorcycle license plate, it qualifies and that is all they care about.

Yes you can ride in the HOV lanes and even on the bridges BUT if you are pulling a trailer then the slow lane or one lane to the left to pass.

ironically last inspection the tech listed my Spyder as a motorhome lol. I'm glad i caught it because it would be hard to explain if i were pulled over, but yes carpool away..

Utah is the same: Spyders are allowed in the HOV lanes, but if you are pulling a trailer you must stay in the right or middle lane. Not that anybody asked, but for your information.

Thanks good to know information whenever I get that way was aware of HOV permission but not the trailer that I would most likely have when I do get that way.

Yes, and not to dilute your humor, there have been amendments to the applicable vehicle code as recent as 2018
http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/fa...5.&lawCode=VEH
"Amended by Stats. 2017, Ch. 392, Sec. 2. (SB 406) Effective January 1, 2018"
When I started riding, legally, on the street (1963), there were no motorcycle endorsements or helmet laws!

Yup! And in MN, motorcycles were looked down upon. Most of the places where you got the MC endorsement really put you through the ringer.

I’m really glad that I read this thread....It’s allowed here in British Columbia and I just naturally thought that it would be everywhere else, pus I didn’t even consider the law being different if you’re pulling a trailer.

Yes, as others have stated........However just remember if you are pulling a RT622 or Freedom trailer or any trailer that you can not be in the car-pool lane even if you have a passenger.
Years ago I was riding upto Big Bear lake and a CHP on a bike pulled up and yelled from his bike YOU CAN'T BE IN THE CAR POOL LANE!
That was so nice to do, we didn't know, have not pressed my luck since.

I, too, didn't know that pulling a trailer met you couldn't be in the HOV lane. I'm sure I have been guilty in the past. Something new learned from an old thread..... Jim

When the M/C endorsement was added in CA, all that was required for an existing rider, was a written test.
I have forgotten the year.

It is not in the HOV lane section.
CVC 21655 (b) requires vehicles pulling trailers or any vehicle subject to 55 max speed limit, such as big rigs, to use only the right two lanes on a highway. The citation would be for violation of a lane restriction for that vehicle, rather than misuse of the HOV lane.
The left coast is grossly over regulated and it is not getting better.
So, in CA, remember that trailer towing is limited to 55 MPH, although it does not seem to be strictly enforced...more of a reasonable speed. OTOH, I have not been back to CA since April 2018....Death Valley does not count.
BTW, if you transport a handgun into CA or within CA, it must be:
a. unloaded
b. in a locked case
c. ammo separate
