    Question OMG!!! Front Tires!!!

I finally had to get new front tires. By the computer for my "unit" (RT-S 2010) I have not replaced these tires. I got the Rt with just over 900 mi. I replaced the tires yesterday and the old ones had 30,808 miles on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just KNOW there's gotta be a mistake somewhere in the computer that SOMEWHERE way back when there was a change in tires. These were the OEM's Kendra or Kendal or whatever. SOOOO anybody else get that kind of milage. Or did Len of Cowtown play a joke on me. Wouldn't put it past him !! He's a Joker!!!

Are you sure that he didn't just replace them because they were showing age-cracks in the sidewalls?

Mine had plenty of tread left and maybe if I could endure more torture of the Elvis Syndrome then maybe I could get that kind of mileage?
But I bit the bullet as they say, and got a new set of front tires this past week.....Bridgestones!

They were JUST showing the wear bar on ONE of them. But being rather safe than sorry got em NOW before MV and the rain!! They were getting out of balance and a little weird on corners. Just a feeling nothing real drastic. Sure hope that THESE tires hold up as well IF it was really true.

"Your mileage will vary" is often used as a cliche' right?

So true with the stock tires.

    Default Maybe..!!

if your roadster has less then that mileage showing maybe a joke but otherwise probably true. There are those that have gotten great mileage out of the OEM tires...hope the new ones last as long...!!

I just did mine at 28.5K and might have gotten more if I had not rotated them at 20K. Never could get rid of the bounce. I run them at 20 lbs and have Elkas and BajaRon's sway bar. I think the stiffer suspension helps with mileage ....

My front tires on our RT were shot after 9,000 miles. Len at Cowtown did the laser alignment and replaced the front tires (they are now car tires). They said it was way off. I have 23,000 miles on the new tires and I ride HARD. The new tires have no visible wear that I can see at all, not even feathering! It seams that alignment is very critical on these. They said there was an update on the alignment specs and set ours to the new spec. It handles like a dream. My guess is they did this for yours when they had it. Good luck with your new tires.

I got almost 20,000 on my first set of front tires. Not bad considering how I ride!

My problem is with the rears. I only got 9,000 out my first two rear tires. Just put a 4 ply on the rear. Hoping to get at least 20,000 out of this one but I accelerate very hard so we'll see.

I am just shy of 7500 miles and my right front has a little inside wear, probably from an alignment issue. Other than that, front's are good. Rear tire is completely bald in the center, and will be replaced with a car tire later this week.

    Just sayin'............
Three in the garage, and I think I can fit at least one more in.....and then we will have to build another garage.

    Default OMG!!! Front Tires!!!

I now firmly believe tires are the most important part of the Spyder. Going 30,000 miles is ridiculous... For a couple hundred bucks you can be back on fresh tires... safe and riding good.

New tires make such a big difference.

I can't seem to get more than 13,000 off fronts and about 8,000 off the rear... and I'm not complaining. That is awesome compared to many other bikes.

When in doubt... replace em' !

Uneven wear on a single tire is usually a result of worn or damaged suspension components, not misalignment.

23K on my fronts, and they measure only 60% of the usable wear worn.

16.000 on my single, original front tire...
It's seen better days, but I should be able to finish this riding season with it.

to the site. The "real" answers are all over the place on here. There are thousands of "tire" threads. Suggest reading them at your leisure. You will have to make up your mind.

    More fun reading: oil threads.

Please, Please, no more tire threads. Blueknight is beginning to Hallucinate and begin typing imodicons that will take us an hour to decipher. Please hit the search engine on here and you will find over 500 (personnel) opinions that are mostly useless and in total disagreement with each other.

Tires and Oil are in the same category. There are several on here that go into fits of despair and deep depression because not everyone agrees with them.

My advice on these two subjects is read the recommendations in your manual or check with your service advisor. Or hell, just make up your own mind for a change. Go out on a limb and make a decision on your own.

    Default OMG Front tires

I replaced my front tires @ 12,807 miles last year. I replaced the originals with Continental Contiprocontact Size: 165/60R15, and I have 4,848 miles on the front tires. I have a 2014RTS-SE6. I run the Continental Contiprocontact's @ 19psi.

I also replaced the rear tire @ 5,824 miles, and went with the General Altimax RT43 which I am running @ 26psi. I have 11,831 miles on the rear tire. This tire is very quite, and handles great. Deanna
