Good news on the pricing for the fender, but I'd have to sell 25 sets to afford being a sponsor the forum for a year

I think that you are having too much fun inventing things for the Spyder. Your new name should be Inventor John or something similar.

Need to sell 25 units. Two+ a month over a year. 24% overall sales increase annually. What percentage of that number is RT's with trailers is the unknown. 25 a year may be doable coming out of the gate based on the number of units currently using trailers. Some may have already done their own mod. But that's not likely a high number. What to do? tol

Looks good. If you get a flat tire will it drag?

I assume you mean will the fender touch the ground when the tire is flat. Good question, I hope to never find out. I'm adjusting the fender to 14" long by 10" wide. That will have a bit more room on each end.
Thanks

Thanks, I'm making a few minor adjustments to the size of the fender and hope to get a sample of the final fender to fabricate the tooling needed to form the bracket.

$64,000 Question
I had the same problem with my GoldWings & Harleys with the trailer hitch getting
all dirty and the wiring & plug same thing.... They make a fender extender for that
or why not a mud flap ???
HOWEVER... it looks like you are a killer mod guy, "I used to be one, got old" so
fab on and keep fabing.

My initial thoughts were to supply it in bare metal this way it can't get scratched up when shipped. Rustoleum rattle can red primer and semi gloss black is what I used on the prototype. It's a decent finish for something that far from view.

We went for a trial run with the trailer today and with the heavy rains the last few days around here there was quite a bit of mud and gravel on the roads. The trailer hitch is clean, not a drop of mud. The only debris and mud is on the lower plastic part on the trailer. Some will get by the gap no matter what but IMHO the fender did it's job and limited the mud splatter to a small area of the trailer. No mud was above the plastic part or on top.
How does this compare to the factory setup?

Just an update on this, I've been riding with my prototype fender and bracket for several hundred miles now and I have finalized on the size of the fender as well as how the bracket will be made. I have a sample fender on the way. I will have the original prototype on the Spyder at Maggie Valley if anyone wants to look at it.
