If you travel in June without rain gear you are just asking to get wet.

A buddy of mine had a 3 day event last week with a BBQ and the forecast was rain all three days and 90% on Saturday and I did get a little rain but nothing like they were forecasting. Point is if they can't get it right the day it was happening I wouldn't count on them being right 3 weeks out but I would have rain gear with you for sure.

    90% chance of rain day

In theory, all weather forecasters are Science Fiction writters... I'll believe (some of it) by that Monday!

My intent here was to imply that you never know when you will need GOOD rain gear and the Frogg Toggs sale going on now is a very good deal. Believe me, I was not singing the praises of our national weather system

When we went 2 years ago it was soggy... and from what the owners of the motel we stayed at told us, that time of year is hit and miss, but mostly hit. So yeah, get your Frogg Toggs!!!

This past Saturday we had an Honor and Remember ceremony. The weather man said rain and thunderstorms beginning around 2:00. The ceremony started at 9:30, the rain and storms moved in a little after 10:00. We stood the flag line in pouring rain until the lightening started. So I guess the weather guessers were spot on. NOT.

2011 owners event, rained a little on Friday but not a washout. It was actually rather cool Friday evening. Sunday was a washout. Storms, very heavy rain, hail.

Looking out that far ahead; if they were any good at prognostications; they would have been buying PowerBall tickets...
But good rain gear is certainly worth it's weight in platimun!

    Default What..!!

You all didn't know...weathermen/women don't have windows. I often yell out to look out the window its pouring as they inform me that there is a slight chance of a drizzle... If you travel carry rain gear..!!

The GF is one of those types. You know the type: the type who hangs on the weather forecast days, even weeks in advance, when it's utterly meaningless (I mean, c'mon... the second week of June? Really?? )

I hope we have great weather. I'm packing the rain gear just the same. If we lose a day to rain, oh well. Now, if we lose the whole trip to rain... I'll probably have to break something with my hands.

They aren't sure what the weather will be like in 3 days, much less 4 weeks from now.

    Default Never without

I always have full rain gear on board..although yesterday 10 min. Downpour near Punta Gorda FL..only changed to full helmet for face shield so I could see...no rain gear got totally soaked and it felt WONDERFUL... Now if it had been 10 degrees cooler I would have been geared up...but just gotta go with it sometimes

As for the weather... meterologists can't get tomorrow correct, sometimes they can't even get RIGHT NOW correct.

that said... since I'm taking i-40 from NV to TN, passing right through Tornado Alley, I'm more concerned about having to deal with tornados on the way than some rain.

Packing along your raingear is advisable indeed. If you have it, it's ready to go if you need it. The waterproof textiles are good insurance because you are ready if it rains without having to change over. I don't usually wear my leather jacket if rain is predicted. I also carry the waterproof gloves with me in the trunk.

Can anyone comment on how well the Caliber jacket stands up to the rain?

It won't stand up in the sun either! Actually it would be fine for light rain/drizzle etc but if we get the usual gully washer in the mountains I'd have to agree with Daisyjo and go with the Froggs.

I have the Caliber Textile jacket from BRP. First year edition. Have ridden in the rain many times with it--no problems. I do not have the Caliber pants--I don't fit their long leg versions--so use First Gear for pants.
