a group of us spent 5 hours driving around (in a truck) looking for someplace that had waterproof gloves
in the process we went to Bass Pro, the local HD dealer, the local Honda dealer, Walmart, ORielly's, and of course...... the Waffle House....

About a month ago I got my gloves soaked in a down pour. I let them dry out then I coated them with Sno-Seal. I put too much on but it finally soaked into the leather. I had no problems with them at SpyderFest. My hands kept dry.
Yeah, they wouldn't let me feed them by hand. The young lady that conducted the tour was feeding them by hand. I really wanted to but alas it was not to be. To bad I don't live closer. I'm a sucker for animals and big cats are my favorite. I did get to pet a black leopard while visiting a preserve in England. He loved every minute of it. I recommend the tour to anyone. It takes about 1.5 hours. It's heartbreaking to hear the story of these cats. They are all rescues from private citizens, a circus and another so called preserve. If memory serves, the biggest tiger they have is 850lbs.
There is a preserve here in NC that has cats and other exotic animals. Haven't been there yet as they have strict hours for visiting. I'll be there later in the summer though.

I love big cats! Always wanted an Ocelot or a Geoffrey's Cat. Those are small compared to the big boys, but none the less, still wild. After my 14 yr. old orange (Morris the cat) tabby goes, I'm all in for a Maine Coon. That's the largest that I'll ever be able to get.
The reason that they went to Waffle House is because of the lard and grease. After you've handled any of the food there, you are already protected against water.
Raining here for days and we're just 3.5 hours away from Springfield towards STL. Flying out to (hopefully) sunny San Diego on Tuesday. My middle son graduates from the Marine Corp's. basic training next Friday. I'm a proud papa, for sure!
We're hoping for better weather next year. Like Bruiser said, it was 33° in Springfield today, and they actually got an inch of snow, as well. And it is May, people. This was just a freaky year all around for weather.
April is generally very nice here.
See you next year!

T.I.G.E.R.S. (The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species) is located in Myrtle Beach. At the location at Barefoot Landing you can have your picture taken with a tiger cub or an ape. You can also do a tour of their 50 acre preserve located 17 miles south of Barefoot Landing but it's not cheap ($239.00 per person)!!! They have all kinds of critters at the preserve, including a liger - lion father and tiger mother. Check out their web site. Pretty cool!!!

Recently on a program on TV, the Bass Pro Shop in Missouri was listed as the most popular tourist destination in the state. It must really be a nice one. We have one in Islamorida that I love to visit on rain days. They even have rocking chairs on the back porch overlooking the bay.

SDM, I have been to MB and have seen their shop at Barefoot. They do take very good care of their animals. I haven't been to the preserve. It is expensive.
