Ram Phone/Phablet mount on RS
Hey y'all here is my most recent DIY project. I wanted to be able to mount my Samsung Galaxy Note II and/or mount a regular GPS. I wanted it high enough to not have to take my eyes off the road when looking at it to find my way yet not really in the way either. Here is my solution. I ordered parts from Ram Mount and a large phone/phablet x mount. I drilled a 13/64" hole in the top of the handle bar cover then tapped it for threads and installed a a ball mount with a stainless steel allen head screw and washer will probably Plasti dip the screw and washer black to match but thats not a biggie as for now i have my phone/gps mounted and works great. *note* it does cover up part of the speedo dial however i never look at that one anyway and only watch the digital speedo.. besides, do we really need 2 speedos????

Nice! I have a Note 2 and was looking at mounting options. How well does the RAM mount hold it?

Thanks for the pics. I think that is what I will end up getting, as I have read a lot of good reviews.

Indeed, I did the same thing, it looks great. It doesn't block your view. The phone my droid bionic with an otterbox holds on perfectly and leaves room for the charger!

The Ram X-Mount holds it terrific. I heard they were good but didnt really know just how strong they would really be and wow I'm impressed and very happy i took others advice and went with this one... Best mount on the market IMO

I have the original International Note and the same Ram Mount on a windshield mount. It is pretty sturdy but I just did not trust it to hold a $600 phone with nothing more than spring pressure. Hopefully I'm just too paranoid and it will work fine for you.
By the way, I used this http://www.rammount.com/Gallery/imag...RAM-B-346U.jpg to put a ball mount on the Spyder.

I'm not looking to highjack the thread only to offer another option.
Another way to mount a ram ball is to remove the black plastic filler piece on the throttle side located between the throttle and handlebar cover. This is easy to remove by taking the throttle off sliding this filler peice off and reinstalling the throttle.
This will give you enough space to install a 7/8 handlebar ram ball mount. Also you will have no permanent damage to your Spyder.

I don't think there is any hijacking going on. These are all fantastic ideas to mount some essentials to the spyder. It's all about doing what works and putting our own little spin on things to make it work best for us.
I did all of my mounts for my GPS and phone over the "vents".
