MPG ON 2013 ST
What are you getting on your new ST ( MPG ).. I see a lot of folks getting 28 to 34 on the RT & RS. Me I'm getting 25 ( MPG ) with 2500 miles on it so it should be broke in.Took a trip to PLANO TX. on the High way at 70 mph and still 25 mpg. I was just wondering if anyone else was getting better than that; or maybe I need to check something.Lets compare and find out.??
Thanks,

MPG on 2013 ST
Eddie, I am averaging 29.5 mpg after 14 fill ups on my ST-S. Best tank was 31.7. I would think you should be getting better than 25 avg.

An awful lot of it depends on how the dance between the right wrist and the loud grip is played out...

Let's see..!!
there are many threads on this subject. You will see there are allot of variables that have to be considered.I could list them all but you would get board halfway through. I have 5000 on my RS and still don't consider it broken in because my riding style changes along the way. Little quicker with the BajaRon getting used to running up around 5000/6000 rpm's changing over to K&N air flow system pipe....aw heck I'm starting to list...see ya..good luck...!!

I understand about throttle and rpm's and diff in riding style's. If I play its 25 mpg. Travel long distance its still 25 mpg. (rpm's at 5200 , 70 mph ) I know there are a lot of write ups on fuel mileage and a list of what kills mpg. I'm wondering and hoping it gets a little better at some point or maybe I need to get something looked at. I'm new to the spyder and its motor. Maybe some other people are having the same mpg.
Thanks for the input folks.

Pretty typical for an RS with a tall windshield and less than 5,000-10,000 miles, so I am guessing the ST would be similar. Your mileage at 55 mph would be better...at 70 mph the drag is almost twice as much, and drag is what eats mileage. Ethanol fuels can hurt, too. Lots more variables than just the throttle, rpm, and riding style. Some people may be bragging about 30-35 mpg, but with three Spyders during the last five years, we have averaged only 28-29...and it took several thousand miles before we got that.

MPG ON 2013 ST
I had concerns also until I did my first long trip. I filled up and went 130 miles and still had 2 bars left on the gauge I estimated I still had enough for about 60 miles or so. I did not go into math on it, or watched my speed it was just how far I can go before I felt I need to fuel up again. I'm sure I can do better if I control speed and such but at 190miles perhaps more I was satisfied I'm in the right range with most others. So now I try not to think on it too much.
I do feel I eat up a lot more on short trips and around town, I feel I full up more often.
I may do a real proper test later carrying gas, control speed and go till empty. See what happens.

In my first 1000 miles and I'm getting between 29 and 32 mpg depending on speed and road type, back roads vs. highway. Penny

I'm under 400 miles on my STS and the first fill up was 26mpg. Second fill up was 30mpg. Averaging 28mpg.

I've got just over 800mi on my ST and my best was 34mpg ( under 65mph, Crse control, country roads ), 26mpg ( 70-75mph, no cruise, hills), 29mpg ( 65-70mph, cruise, flat hwy ). Best mileage when my windshield was 1-2 clicks below full height.

My still almost new ST-L averaged 32.8 MPG today riding two-up. Only has 800 miles. But I will say the first couple of tanks it was so bad I didn't do the math, didn't want to know. LOL.
Todays ride was all highway speeds. Running between 60-74 MPH depending on speed limit.
I think I really stretched the range today. Wasn't paying attention and missed a last chance for fuel. Pulled in to the next closest gas station with 193 miles on that tank. Low fuel light came on at 150. I was sure I was going to be walking.

When I switched to ethanol free gas my mpg improved at least 25%--still tracking stats but its the single most significant change I've made

You might be the all time champion on this one. I made it 184 miles and put in 5.8, one time--I was also stretching it and thought I would also be walking.

dont use ethanol gas it will cut 3 to 4 mpg off your miliage stay away from that sh,,,,, and its bad for the engine.use high test only gas.

...in the pink (Girls On Spyders)
I have not checked mine yet....was going to do this on the way to spyderfest....but it seems very simular to the RS...I get gas at about 130 miles and it takes between 3.5 and 4.0 to fill up.....
