    Default Aftermarket clutch plates??

$500 is a little steep for a clutch pack seeing how I just did some in a 1200 sportster and a Suzuki 1000r and neither guy had over $200 in the kit including gaskets. Was wondering if anyone knew of an aftermarket set-up for the Spyder. Let the hooligans at the shop get the best of me and the old Kenda that was getting replaced got sent off in a 3rd-4th gear smoke show, had some bad slipping in 5th gear afterwards. Let it cool off and it is acting fine now, but I'm sure I decreased the life of the clutch some.

DocDoru can fill you in on aftermaket options. One thing to consider about the revised Spyder clutch pack...they have modified the oil jet to change clutch oiling to enhance clutch life, they have replaced the aluminum plates with steel plates, and they have added an additional plate and disc. It probably won't hold up any better than anything else against hole shots and burnouts, but it should certainly last longer under normal use.

I believe the clutch update was done. I've been trying to find the part# for the new oil jet though.

Anyone ever have the clutch slip like that and then go away? I got the Spyder so mad at me it went into limp home mode.

Those who used the wrong oil were able to change to a good JASO rating MA2 lubricant and clutch slippage went away. That may not be your issue though.

Scotty's right... Talk to Doc about clutches! Gort2008.jpg He's done his own particular brand of field testing!

If the clutch was previously replaced, you could have other issues. Improper setup with the wrong shim clearances can wreak havoc with a clutch. BTW, what oil are you using?

Clutch has been fine for the 14,000 miles I put on it last year. Also been running AmsOil. Like I said it just didn't like the smoke show. Thinking that the tire got hot and grabbed the pavement and then I was slipping the clutch.

Getting a new set of clutch plates and springs. Still looking for the new oil sprayer nozzle part #. Also are there any other parts I should get before I tear it down ie: gaskets, diaphram?? etc...

Found a 2013 microfiche and the nozzle part # 420456252. Just need to know if I needs any other parts and if I need an extra disk/plate the Barnett kit comes with 9 friction discs and 10 steel plates.
