Sorry, don't understand the animosity. She did well, considering. Yes, it was a boring race with not much chance of passing but OK if you just want to see cars go around an oval flat out lap after lap at speeds approaching 200 mph. For a good race have them use the same course as the Rolex 24. I suppose that's why I prefer the Aussie V8's........very similar cars on road courses....not an oval in their season.

How did she drop from third to eighth in 1/2 lap? Was it a points thing? She literally looked like she put the breaks on. Did she run out of gas?

Lack of experience. Here's an article(interview) where she addresses your question.

My ramblings on the 500.
The race did not live up to its hype for me. I hoped there would be no devastating crashes and there were none. Fender bending yes, injuries today, no.
I was disappointed in the "freight train" type of racing. Just a long line of cars going around. It appears that getting out and passing is going to be a problem with the new Gen 6 cars. Most cars I saw pull out, ended up being sucked back in the pack and losing position.
Today, Danica could not be accused of being involved in, or causing an accident--that was good for once.
My impression was that it was sort of Ho Hum.

That's Danica. Take a look back at her open wheel time. She's a very tactical, deliberate, and intelligent driver. Without doubt that's what kept her alive in open wheel racing.

Holy cow Bob, almost 19,000 posts!! Where HAVE I BEEN!!
There already is a max powered trike, the Roadstercycle. But it sure looks like a back killer to me! Be a blast tho....eh? Without a 'nanny' you'd probly be sideways more than straight!

I like that V-max trike.
I owned a 1984 Yamaha Venture (V-Max) and that was one sweet, FAST, touring machine. I would still have it, but decided that I needed to sell it, go back to college, and finish that degree. It worked out, but, wish I would have financed the degree differently.
Now: getting back to the thread subject--a race question?
The "approved" cars are Chevy, Ford, and Toyota. What happened to Dodge? Did they not want to "pay to play", or was it something else. Inquiring mind(s) would like to know.

I think the race would have been better if Harvick & Stewart were able to race on and be competitive. I was at Daytona over the weekend and there was so much hype about Danica that I was just about sick of it. But, she did race well and didn't cause any accidents or get caught up in any.

They just made a "Corporate Decision" to no longer compete anymore...

With Penske making the switch to Ford this season, Dodge was left with no teams and they could not convince any other owner to make the switch to Dodge. But Dodge has said they want to return to Nascar when the time is right.

Dang she took a hard hit. Cleaned the skin right of that left side. Lot of front rights going down. Too much brake dialed in.

It was an interesting race. Can't blame Ms. D for anything bad this go around. Right front tires seemed to be an issue on a couple other cars also.
Amazing though, how the announcers kept bringing in clips about Ms. D when she was not really an integral part of the the outcome of the race. I will mention in passing though, that she worked her way from 40th to the high 20's before the tire incident.

Has anybody been watching the Las Vegas weather for this weekend?
I'm just wondering if they'll be able to get the race in, or will I have to sit and actually TALK with the Missus today???
