I see where Chevrolet threatened to pull out if NASCAR didn't update the cars to look more like the street version. Mike Helton and Rick Hendrick met with the suits at GM. It forced NASCAR to come out with the GEN 6 car a year ahead of schedule. Wonder what that would have done to NASCAR had they pulled out? Just look at all the races, championships, and manufacturers trophies Chevrolet has won. I'm thinking that they would have had to find another "foreign" car to fill that slot. Audi? BMW? Volvo? Nissan?

She won the pole but this week will tell if she will actually start the race from it. With her tendency to crash she could be starting from the rear in a back up car.

I'm SILL waitijng to hear of rule changes that'll actually allow them all to RACE out there...
The Gen 6 cars just seem "squirrelly", and don't have enough horsepower to actually race one another.
I was gonna miss the Datona500 cuz we were gonna be in Palm Springs, but I talked my wife into going today instead My wife is driving and I am typing on the ipad. I had to sacrifice not going on the RT today

Set your DVR and record it. Trying to get a race on the radio can be pretty difficult especially when you are traveling.

If nothing else, the hype over Danica is going to make for a very interesting Daytona 500 next weekend. I know we are going to be watching it.
The speculation for me: Now that Danica has the pole position locked up, how is she going to fair when she is the leader of the pack? Add in-- that there are lots of drivers who want to "take her out" (in the bad way)--no other pun intended. Then, throw in all the unknowns about the "squirrley" gen 6 cars and the "unknowns" that go with them--all in all--we should have a very interesting race next week. I am hoping that no one gets injured in the process. They have already had some pretty good wrecks.

I hate to see Randy so depressed....especially this early in the season! But I will give him a little on the predictions....now that Danica is shed of the old geezer she'll begin to 'step out' some, she and Ricky boy will probly have an on-track dust up and that will be it for that budding romance....she may even break up a marriage or two before settling down in her destined role as the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion!!
The shootout was an ok race IMO,an uncharacteristic mistake by Smoke took out some good cars early, the G6 is kinda squirrely but puts the race where it should be, in the hands of the drivers. The duals could get interesting, especially if Danica goes against her crew chief's advice and tries for all the marbles!
Bottom line....Sunday will be GREAT, how could it not be, it's the Daytone 500....2013!!
