    Default Weird Gas Measurements.

I have been noticing a strange trend with my RSS, and I am wondering if others experience the same.

The tank is 6.6 gallons but when I fill up from being no bars with the gas light on, I only fit in 4.2-4.5 gallons. Is there some sort of measurement discrepancy or is this normal?

I filled mine the other day at 5.3 gallons, so I still had 1.3 gallons in it, I rode with the fuel light on for about 30 miles.

There isn't 6.6 gal, in the tank 6 is max. Some will come on and say the .6 is for head [air] space'
But unless the Spyder can run on .6 of air , In reality the tank is 6 gal.

As was said, the tank's usable capacity is about 6.0 gallons. The light will come on with about 1.4-1.6 gallons remaining, the idea being to give you approximately another 40-50 miles to reach a gas station. Your Spyder is normal.

When the fuel light comes on you still have a good deal of gas left in the tank. Five gallons is about the most I have ever put in my tank. Except when I ran out of gas and then I put in over 6 gallons.

Here in Kalifornia we have those vapor recovery nozzles. I always defeat the mechanism and add another 1 to 1.5 gallons to the tank to fill it to the brim. With the range being what it is, you need to get it full.

Also, I have been using that Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner about every 5,000 miles. That makes the top 1 to 2 bars not light up at all even if the tank is full. After about three tanks it gets back to normal where even the little pie shaped piece lights up.

I hope all of this sheds some light on the mystery of the fuel tank size.

I once put 5.92 gal . but as I was reaching the gas station I hit a down hill and the spyder hesitated until I was on a flat surface, I was on the last drops.
