Default Pictures of the ST and RS-S from the International Motorcycle Show in Atlanta.

    Hi all,

This is my first post on this site, but I've been lurking for several weeks since I am considering buying a new 2013 ST. First of all, I'd like to thank you all for the great site and all the information and help that is here.

I'm a die-hard sportbike rider and over the last year have developed vertigo at age 47. I currently own a very rare KTM Superduke R (one of two like it from KTM North America in the country) and a Triumph Speed Triple 1050. You can see pics and a description of the KTM here. http://home.windstream.net/thunderpunk/index.html

The last two times I took my bikes out, I was in a right-hand corner and it felt like the the front end was washing out. I almost went down both times. The second time was in a corner at 65mph. My foot involuntarily went to the ground causing me to get punted out of my seat and fighting for control of the bike as it head-shook me into the oncoming lane. To this day, I'm not sure if it was vertigo or sand/oil in the road that I did not see. Two times back to back after riding sportbikes for over a decade has me thinking it was my vertigo. I guess I'll never know. I'm thinking about selling the bikes and moving into a Spyder. The KTM is up for sale to the right buyer. I refuse to sell it to a noob.

Anyway, I went to the IMS in Atlanta this weekend to look at the Spyders. Specifically the ST. I gotta tell ya, the RS-S is looking really nice as well. I'm torn. I want one of each. The yellow has plenty of depth with the micro-flake paint. It's really nice. You can see it in the close-ups of the wheel fenders. The matte paint on the RS-S is stunning too. The re-designed fenders and bigger wheels do wonders for the look and stance of the bikes as well.

Anyway, here are the pictures. Some are a little blurry but they aren't too bad.

My daughter likes it already and wants daddy to take her for a ride. That's one foot in the door! :-)

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice ... in practice, however, that's just a theory.

I've been trying for years to get them to hop on the back of my motorcycles. They won't do it. Boy did they say "Yes" when I asked them if they would ride with me on the Spyder.

Great pics Bro, thanks for sharing. Hope it works out that you can get one, RS or ST, they are both a lot of fun.

Bananimal, welcome to SpyderLovers and thanks for the great pictures. I was at that show on Saturday afternoon from about 2:00 to 4:00. There are a good number for Spyder riders in Georgia, so keep an eye on the Georgia forum for rides and events. Looking forward to meeting you soon and see your soon-to-be Spyder ST!

    Default Awesome garage!

I just looked at the link you included for your KTM Superduke. Dude, that's an enviable garage! An RS or an ST would be privileged to sit in there!

Stop! You're making me blush! :-P

Thanks! It came out much better than I thought it would. It's great having such a clean place to work on and display my bikes. It's gonna be hard for me to let my bikes go though. I've been ripping up the pavement in the N. GA hills for the last 7 years. I'm hoping the Spyder is up to the task.

That KTM wieghs 395 dry and is putting down 142 RWHP. It has a 998cc 73 degree twin designed by KTM. Very similar to the Rotax on the Spyder. It's going to be a totally different experience riding something that weighs a little over twice as much and is down by 33% in HP. That's part of the reason I am hesitant to jump on a Spyder. Then again, there's always the Aerocharger. I have issues.

Loved the photos you presented, it put a smile on my face, cute daughter, she is gonna love it when you get the bike.

Then I went back and read your post, Again welcome to the forum, great post! You have been lurking you said for a while, and that means you have gotten allot of good info here.

I hope you take this the right way. Get your body completely checked out. Your self diagnosis of yourself as it being vertigo is a warning sign that you owe to yourself, your precious daughter and others that are riding on the highway. Having three wheels planted is more secure than two, but still, even four won't help except for the fact that you would be in a cage. I googled "is it safe to ride with vertigo?" and this was the first thread that popped up. Started reading it, and I suggest you do too. (second post seems to be from a doctor, who offers free advice.) http://www.stromtrooper.com/off-topi...e-vertigo.html Would love to meet you at the next Spyderfest with your new bike

Thanks for the advice. I've already seen a ENT for it and had the therapy. It's BVVP.

Thanx for the great pics. That does it! I'm gonna hit the local dealer this week to see if he knows when we might be able to expect a machine or two in our area. Good luck with the vertigo. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Ain't fun!

    Thanks for the pictures!
The only thing I don,t like about the ST, RT digital display is they Need to make the RPM ##s Larger Like on the GS/RS.
I can,t see the small RPM below the LARGE MPH unless I really squint Soo I have to look over at the Analogue Guage for the RPM,s and its ditracting?"
The GS/RS RPM #s are almost as Big as the MPH so its very easy to read without Multi-tasking?

I've got a another image of the ST instrument panel. The one thing that jumped out at me was how fragile the clear plastic is. Looks like it scratches easily with normal cleaning.

Looks normal without the flash on.

Turn on the flash and you get to see what the naked eye sees when sitting on it.

    Default OMG

OMG BRP really messed up a SUPER LOOKING ride...

i have an '09 RS, and find it to be just fabulous in the 'looks' dept.
what have they done to this once beautiful SPYDER...? GAWD, those front fenders look like crap... the handle bar is JUST PLAIN UGLY, the lights are hideous.... taillights, great improvement... but they dropped 6 hp... WHY?
    I'll stick with my '09...
