Ouch... That was really scary. Does anyone know how the rider fair?

I think the main lesson would be that instead of waving to the camera man, he should have been scrubbing off speed before entering that turn.
I'm sure the insurance company for the Vette driver was very appreciative to have all that photographic evidence.
Hope the rider was ok; looked like he was wearing some decent gear.

I think the rider was ok but he had to go home to change his underwear!
IMO, he entered the curve at a wrong angle, when he realized it it was too late, (he was bussy waving at the camera)
When he tried to correct it by leaning more agressive the bike scraped and his natural reaction was to "stand it up" going straight toward the corvette.
It is never funny when a fellow biker goes down, but sometimes you wonder,,,,,

Doing so put him to the outside of the curve too late to make the corner without crossing the line. You need to always start a corner at the outside edge of a turn and then tighten it as you go into it to avoid an oncoming vehicle from crossing over into your lane.
At the same time he was not paying attention to the road -- but rather giving attention to the camera person.
Lastly, once he realized he came to the outside of the corner, and couldn't lean any more, the turned his head and looked right at the "vet" -- which straightened-up the bike and put him right into what he was looking at. He should have turned his head further to the right at the section of the road where he needed to go. He might have had a slim chance of making it, but for certain, he would have missed the "vet" -- mostly because of the efforts of the vet-driver pulling off to his right.
If there is ever anything one needs to learn about riding, it is that you must look at where you want to go at all times... because you WILL go where you look. If you look at the ditch... you'll go into the ditch. If you look at the other lane... you'll go into the other lane.

Sad thing was... another rider came upon the debris and fluids after the accident and went off into the trees. Because of this rider's bonehead moves someone else was seriously injured. In ICU last I read.

I have done the "Tail" about four times now and my greatest fear is meeting up with this type of rider. The road itself is fun if yopu ride your own ride but the croch rockets and small souped up sports cars are all over the road. I beleive that I read somewhere that the greatest number of accidents are head-ons with single rider screw ups next.

That is indeed sad! Hope everyone involved makes a full recovery.

I was there
My brother and I were there that day and got to see the damage first hand. I heard the rider was ok just banged up pretty good.

I hope the guy is ok, this is what scares me with places like the dragon. I know my own ridding ability but I have no control on the others that are coming right at me.
When I ride the dragon (not done so yet) I hope I can get the road to myself.

I was on the Dragon 2 years ago and had a young girl in a Mustang come WAYYYYY over the center line. I just leaned it over harder and prayed. Lucky for me she pulled it over at the last mili-second! Looks like the Vette drive tried the same thing--pulling it off the shoulder of the road

I think there is a site that has all kinds of mayhem pictured from that road, especially the semi-trucks that try to negotiate it and wreck.
