WE STOOD.....

PGR mission today was the largest I've ever been on and the first for Kris. There were 800 to 1,000 bikes and near twice that in people. The flag line surrounded the entire block around the church and there were enough people left to act as relief. The mission was for SSgt Donna Johnson, one of three members of the NC National Guard killed in Afghanistan a week ago. Unfortunately there was a protest group from a certain church that showed up as well. They tried their best but didn't do much to disrupt the funeral service. However, when they began to stomp and kick our precious flag some members of the Army took care of that situation swiftly and quietly. SSgt Johnson's remains were transported to the cemetery in a custom built hearse pulled by a trike. The grave side service, always solemn and touching with taps and the 21 gun salute, made this old man tear up. But what really got us were the citizens who came out enmass and stood with us, bringing their own flags and signs. From babies to some who were very old and one veteran with a trachial tube and in motorized wheel chair... well, you get the picture. They lined the streets and either saluted or had their hands over their hearts as we escorted Donna to her final resting place. What a site seen through blurry eyes.

I thought we were done with with that certain church. They don't show up in PA anymore... especially near Philly. It does my heart good to know that the PGR honored SSgt Johnson and gave her family some small comfort in knowing that many Americans share a part of their grief.

Thanks for posting. We sent that church running away from Houston literally.. A shame our families of our fallen have to even hear about this kinda crap. So glad you all were there to show how much true Americans appreciate their sacrifices.

The PGR in Ohio usually refer to them as "UG", univited guests. the less notice they get in the Media, the better for everybody. the attention is what they want. As a part of the Mission, the PGR wil make sure the family nevers see their message of hate. Our Mission Captians carry the Ohio law with them to educate the Police if need be. Seldom needed.
I have been with the PGR since it came to Ohio. I will not count Missions. Each is very important on its own.
Hometown support is very important as well. All kinds of stories over the years, but this one stands out. several years ago, Over in Ind. A Funeral for a KIA. Local support was evident, except for a resturant. A big sign out front said, Free hot soup for protesters. The locaal people were looking at the sign and smiling. I thought, what the ...... I asked why. They replied, they are willing to give each protester a couple gallons of boiling hot soup, but they have no bowls, so they will throw it to them.

...........I very much appreciate and accept that people have different points of view on topics. Certainly throughout all of time "war" and "peace keeping missions" have at times brought cival unrest. But at a funeral................WTF a funeral? This type of protesting should be deemed illegal assembly and violaters should be dealt with swiftly and severley. There is a time and a place to voice your opinion and guess what IT IS NOT AT A FRICKIN FUNERAL.....


Thank you to all those who serve around the world and in some instances have given the ultimate sacrifice. Without your dedication and sacrifice we would have a much different world to live in. I enjoy the freedoms and the quality of life that all of you continue to secure for all of us.

I'm afraid most of my comments would not be approved by this forum. To morn someone who is loved is a sacred act. To disturb the funeral of someone so selfless they gave their life for their beliefs is beyond that. I can only hope that the Army did a good job when they took care of the "religious group". I could suggest several country's where they would fit right in, if they lived.

One of my favorite Generals. He really pissed off Roosevelt and Truman. But he spoke his mind and stood up for it as well. I have read some of his books and books about him as I have of other Generals and Admirals.

It was an honor and very humbling for me to be able to stand alongside Bruiser and all of the other members of the PGR (of which I am now a member), to show that we stood for SSgt Johnson and her family, and would NOT let anyone harass or otherwise protest at this funeral of a fallen hero. This is not a 'church', as God is not a God of condemnation, but is a God of love and grace. I cannot even use that word when saying the name of this so-called organization. As I've said before, I cannot and will not judge another, as He is the ultimate Judge, but I will not tolerate any persons who desecrate our flag and have no respect for our fallen heroes. These military members are the ones fighting and giving the ultimate sacrifice so these have these rights. Ironic, isn't it?

God bless SSgt Johnson and may she rest in peace, prayers for her family, and God bless our country!

A few months ago we had a similar situation with 1,000s of people coming out here in Columbia
They lined the highway as the soldier's body was brought from the airport
They lined the neighborhood and placed flags as the soldier was escorted home one last time
They lined the streets as the hearse took him to his church and the 1,000s stayed and followed when he made his final trip to the cemetery
"the church " showed up but only got a couple blocks and left when they realized the huge crowd was not going to put up with them
