600 mile service
So, I am waiting for the Xtreme Machine crew to finish the 600 mile service. Looks like it will be $512.00 for the work, which seems a bit excessive in my opinion, but I guess what you gonna do.....

my dealer has what they call a diamond care package that covers all regular maintenance for 3 years. It does not specify mileage. I think each one is about $450.00. so if you ride a decent amount it is worth it for that $1500. it may be $1800 now.

I had my 600 mile service done today and they charged me $250 for it - took them about 3 hours while I waited, plus they installed the new oil change panel

Sorry Julian, but they are known in NJ for being crooks....
The two places you want to look into for future services are either J&J Powersports just over the bridge in Delaware or Atlantic City Cycle Center in Hammonton.
J&J did my 600 and the paperwork said something like $225 (also no tax in DE). They were done with the service by the time I got back from having breakfast....

Doesn't anyone ask whats it gonna cost before they bring it in.

I,m going to do my own on the RT- Oil change, Check screen in oil tank, Grease suspension, and the other minor checks BUT
I will bring it to them to check the computer to see I have not been Abusing it!
Should be 20-30 minutes while I wait. Hoping about $50.
They know I do my own maintenance because I bought the parts from them for 23,000 miles of GS service.

Just spoke to the service department at my dealer East Coast Cycle Center in Bensalem, Pa. Service manager tells me 600 miles service should take no more than two hours at a cost of $198.00 plus parts. Parts consist of only oil and filter. Extreme Machines has always been way out when it comes to service prices.

OK, here is the final scoop....
$502.87 and 5 hours and 15 minutes.
I honestly have no clue what took this long, but I did get a $9.00 discount because the "computer" accidently charged me twice for some part.
Officialy, I am done with Xtreme Machine. Complete lunacy and in my opinion rip off. I read all the posts posted so far on this thread, and to whomever wrote that they are not crooks since they didn't hold a gun to my head: yes, they are crooks! If they held a gun to my head, that would be called a robbery. In any case, I should have known better and asked some of the local Spyder owners on this forum before going there. If anyone is interested in seeing the bill they've provided, be more than happy to scan it and post it, but besides a 4 hour at $110.00 per hour rate, they charged for oil, filter, and some other things.

Latest and hopefully final from me on this topic....
Just called Xtreme Machines, after calling few places recommended by folks on this thread. Basically the prices I got from others were pretty much what was posted; between 198.00 and 290.00 dollars. When I called the service manager at Xtreme and explained my findings, he told me that all other places have no clue what they are doing and 600 mile service should not take less than 4 hours. He brought up some things about checking a belt tension with the computer which takes an hour, reprogramming that takes 2 hours, etc. At the end of the conversation I advised him that he lost a customer and any recommendations I could have made for the shop and wished him good luck.
Here is the final note to all the new spyder owners: do not make my mistake and check with your dealer before going in for service, then shop around.
Thanks to all for your honest and candid feedback!

In 30+ years in business, The first thing my customers ask me , How long will it take to do the job, And in almost in the same sentence what will it cost.

600 mile service
It's $180 hourly plus parts in Lodi, Ca. Which is highway robbery. I have never brought the spyder there (can you blame me ?). I do all the work myself. I know the quality of the work and can control the pace and quality of the parts. 600m service cost me around $50 bucks. Just finished 12k ImageUploadedByTapatalk1350502645.754083.jpg

In Colorado, we have the same issue. One place in the Denver area and really the only place you can buy if you don’t want to travel Is RPM Lakewood they will charge 600.00 for the 6k checkup but if you drive 2 hours to Florence Colorado to Fremont Motorsports you get it for 200.00. It is ridiculous that customers have to put up with this.

Roberts Sports in Saranac, NY charged me approximately $165.

Don't want to depress you more but did you get the new panel with this "service". It is supposed to be installed then.

He has an RS, no new panel. New tranny oil filter cap for the SE?? Good question!

Our 600 mile service done in Pensacola was $171 (including tax), so it's in line with what Roberts' charged someone. (labor rates $90/hr). New panel had to be ordered so they will install it with our next service.

600 mile service
It's imperative that more folks on Spyderlovers understand and perform routine maintenance on these fun machines. Once the plastic is off, the bike is easy to work on...plugs excluded.

It is also important for them to understand that there is more to a service interval than a mere oil change. If you do your own service, do it thoroughly...and pay the dealer to do what you do not have the tools (or diagnostics) to handle properly. Be realistic in knowing both your abilities and your limitations. The Spyder is too nice (and expensive) of a piece of equipment to take halfway measures. JMHO
