Default I've got nothing against Nebraska but...

now that I have updated my signature map after my big trip it looks like poor Nebraska had the plague or something. I've often looked at other's maps and wondered what they had against certain states. Like how could you have all of the midwest and not go to Wisconsin? Don't you know it is beautiful and has awesome roads? Or the guy from the west with every state except California. What is up with that?

So for now Nebraska will remain a blank on my map but maybe next year I'll get it filled in.

Been to Nebraska a couple of times when I was stationed in Kansas. Flat, people are outstanding, and most roads are done by sections and square. If you've done Kansas, Iowa and southern Minnesota you've been to Nebraska.

I kind of had the same thought but I will say that I also thought that about Kansas and I was surprised on this trip to find some fun roads in the Leavenworth area along the Lewis and Clark Trail and the Amelia Earhart Hwy.

Same here--have not been to certain states just because I did not get there--no states were avoided for any particular reason.

RE: Nebraska: Most of it is like the plains states--very flat in the southern part. The northern part up by Valentine has some interesting hill country and is beautiful in itself. Once rode south to north to go into S. Dakota at Murdo--so got to see a part of Nebraska that a lot of tourists miss. A sister lives in Omaha.

I'm looking at your map and wondering what you have against Virginia and West Virginia.

I was looking for a way to get to West Virginia on the Spyder last year but it didn't work out. Why don't you hold a Spyder rally next year and I'll be there for sure!

The sand hills of Nebraska, up in the NW section is a very nice area. Picturesque.

(My wife is from Nebraska, and I lived there for 4 years, so I have to stand up for the state.)

I'll have to remember that for next year!

Some of my favorite places from the trip were; the Kentucky Bourbon Trail beautiful country and roads, US 60 & 19 in Missouri; of course most all of the roads around Cuba; Eureka Springs, AR, WY220 & WY 789, and the best of all was the Heber Valley area of Utah on US40 and US189. It has just about everything you could ask for mountains, lakes, rivers, twisties, waterfalls and the leaves were turning colors.

Oh and one other cool thing was having a police escort from Niagara Falls, NY to the Pennsylvania border. One not so cool thing was groing through Cleveland at rush hour with 350 motorcycles and no police help.

After MANY road trips across I-80, I used to have the same opinion but if you go up through western Nebraska from Colorado to South Dakota, you'll find hills and nice scenery. There are some national monuments/parks and some rolling hills and some trees too -- I was shocked

    Spyder Ann:

It is funny how the maps end up. Here is ours with a big hole where Idaho sits. People have asked what we have against potatoes. It's just that we were on our way up the coast and decided to go up to British Columbia in Canada. We then went east in Canada and came back to the states through Medicine Hat Alberta to Cut Bank, Montana and missed the state of Idaho completely.

Actually it is pretty hard to get from Canada to Idaho as there is only about 35 or 40 miles of border between the two.

Let me temp you to visit Nebraska, Ann. We live in Burwell, NE, in the "Sandhills" part of Nebraska. Very much unlike the I-80 view of Nebraska which most people relate to, It is truely a beautiful area and the people are wonderfull as well. The last time I stopped along the highway, to make a call, I was constantly "bothered" by pickup trucks stopping to ask if I needed help. I told them "hell no - just leave me alone" LOL.

If you can make the time, please feel free to spend an overnight in Burwell, Nebraska, with us. You won't regret the detour.

I may just be able to fill in a bunch of those states this summer. We have made reservations for the Owners Event and we will try like crazy to get there. We will take the southern route and knock out all of those states. I've been to all of those in a car but not on the Spyder.

And CurrantSpyder thanks for the invite. I may take you up on it sometime. Like I said in my original post I don't have anything against Nebraska it just hasn't worked out for me to ride there. I do agree though that when I think of Nebraska I think of the I80 route and that isn't very appealing to me.

We should get most of the northwest states knocked out in July which is very exciting for me. I hope to see you all on the road someday.
