    Default Next little project (Pipe)

I picked up a can off of a Warrior and the size of the can really fits the look of the Spyder. What do you think?

WOW! Great looking can. Keep us posted on the sound/fit, etc. You may have discovered a simple and less expensive way to improve the sound and looks of the ugly (IMHO) stock can!!

I picked this one up for $125 bucks and I'm pretty sure I'll have less than $200 in the whole project.

    Looks great.
Wonder how much remapping, if any will be needed?
The diameter of the can would make a gatlin gun exhaust tip look sweet.

From what I've been reading there has been no map changes on the aftermarket pipes. I would say if I opened up the air at the same time I would have to remap.

I think most of us want a little performance sound and maybe pickup a few hp's along the way.

I think it would look great with two pipes on it!

    Dual gatlins???
    Cool

Put the can on with fresh plugs and give it a little run, (20-50 miles)
After that compare them to the old plugs.
If the tips look the same, good.
    White tips.....too lean
    Dark tips......too rich

Same applys to when someone wants to change an air filter to let in more air.

Total cost on this project was $145 bucks.
$125 for the can and $20 for the 90*

Play the video and you can hear it. Not a whole lot of change from stock and that's fine with me. I want to keep the noise down on this one.

I am going to make a Spyder web heat sheild kinda tie everything in.

Sounds nice. I am curious to see what BRP does about our stock heat spots.
When you say "web heat shield", are you refering to the heat by the legs?

No, just something so my foot won't rest on the hot pipe.

Got to put about 150 miles on today with the new pipe and I really like it. The sound is a little deeper than stock but still very pleasent to the ears. Didn't really need the heat guard like I thought I would, that may be needed when riding two up. I ran out of rod to finish it and I changed my mind on how I want to do it anyway. ;D

8I can't believe what I am seeing. I had a Yamaha Warror and could not get that oversized can off fast enough and here you are putting one on a Spyder? Are you a past Harley rider with no taste? That should get all of the past or present Harley guy going. I sold a BMW K12ooGT to get a Spyder and still waiting - my deposit went in in March. What a way to run a company - they have more business that they can Handel.

If you think the stock can looks good then keep it. I think that it looks way too big on a Warrior but fits the Spyder just right.

My last three bikes have been featured in magazines so I must have a little taste, just not the same taste as some BMW guys I guess.

Does his unit have the 1" handlebar riser with the hyw pegs or are they standard?

I am going to say no to the risers.
You bring up a point i did not observe, due to my having too good a time with the hwy pegs.
    I am about Lamonts height.

    My unit? :redfaced: ;D

I have the stock risers on my Spyder and I'm 5'11".

I'm thinking about making this a one piece now and if you need adjustment you could go with something like this.

That is exactly the peg I was looking at after talking to you.
Will the bracket be lower than what you have then?
