I am still buying oil from the dealer is there better oil out there I should be using? Are different oil more expensive or less expensive?
There are oils out there that are more expensive and there are some out there that are less expensive,.
That said AS long the oil your going to use meets BRP's spec's [the specs are in your manual] and its rated for WET clutch use your good to go.

Take a look at BajaRons offerings. Open linK and scan through it. Oil, filters, brake parts, sway bars, plugs and wires, clothing etc. All at fair prices and, he's a great guy to do business with.

The same oil is used for the engine, gearbox, clutch, and the Hydraulic ControlModule (HCM) in the SE5 model. Use the XPS 4-STROKE BLEND OIL(SUMMER GRADE) (P/N 293 600 121) or a 5W40 semi-synthetic (minimum) or synthetic motorcycle oil meeting the requirements for API service SL,SJ, SH or SG classification. Alwayscheck the API service label on the oil container.
To avoid damaging the clutch, do not use a motor oil meeting the API service SM or ILSACGF-4classification. Clutch slippage will occur.

Identify what you have control over and find peace with what you don't.

I use Amsoil 10W-40 motorcycle oil. Get with the Save BIG with AMSOIL’s Preferred Customer Program! Buy a case of quarts and get it for about $10.00 (at a bike shop it goes for about $12.00) a quart and it's one of best motorcycle on the market. That's IMHO.
I use Royal Purple 10W40 Automotive Synthetic. I used it for 40,000 miles on our 2008 SE5, and now have over 25,000 miles on our 2010 SM5. No oil issues what-so-ever. When the SE5 was traded in, the tech said that all the valves were within tolerance...that was at 43,000 (40K with the RP oil use).
2008 GS SE5 in 2008
Traded at 43,000 miles for a left over
2010 RT SM5 in 2011
Traded at 57,000 for a left over
2014 RTS SE6 in 2015, which has 35,000 miles
Oct 19th, 2017, totaled 2014 RT while killing a Javaline
Dec 12th, 2017 drove a 2017 F3L home. What an awesome machine!
