Default Is there any kind of mod to.....

Is there a mod to block off the space that is between your outer tupperware and the inner body panel on each side. Seems like I get a lot of heat coming up through that crack on both sides (along with a little exhaust smell). When I bought my Spyder the guy that owned it had made one out of muffler wrap and a silver heat shield. He painted the silver heat shield black but the heat was causing the paint to flake off and it looked terrible so I took it off. Didn't know if there was something out there to buy to solve this problem. Thanks!

Looked but didn't see anything. I have the air dam and heat shield. The space I am referring to is the space you see when you look down if you sitting on the bike between my red panel and black panel on each side of the bike.

If it's the space I'm thinking of if it was my Spyder I wouldn't. It is already way to hot in the engine compartment now. If you block off those vents you may have some serious overheating problems. I have an 08 GS and I don't think there is very much heat coming out of the upper vents......JIMHO...Mike......PS We all don't have crystal balls so letting people know what type of Spyder you have is usually very helpful....ther is more than one type

If you have excessive heat coming out that high on an RS, you probably need to replace the exhaust Y-pipe gaskets. Use the Honda gaskets, they last longer.

Do the GS/RS models have those panels that run underneath the bike? Removing them might also give the hot air more avenues from which to vacate the premises...

I will be using my trailer with the RT for the 1st time tomorrow when we leave Northern Michigan en route to Florida via Lamonsters. The RT fits perfectly in the trailer and thanks to the various posts above confirms the way I intended to ratchet it down.I previously used the same trailer to tow my Goldwing.
