Analog Or Digital Speedometer
I notice that both my speedometers are displaying different speeds. The didital speedometer reads 2 mph higer than the analog. Which one is closer to being correct?

Neither is likely correct. The digital is probably closer. A GPS on a straight, level road will tell the tale. Or you can just go like gangbusters down your local road and see what the cop says.

Seems to me that the boys in blue don't really care what speed you think you were going.

No, but they'll tell you what they saw, just before they write it on that ticket...LOL.

I go by my GPS for true speed, my digital reads 2% low and the anolgue is way to hard to read at a glance in MPH. I set my speed to 1 mph over the posted speed limit to keep tail gaters back, the cruise is amazaingly steady on my RT but now and then it will drop a mile per hour due to terrain. I was followed by a patrol car down the highway and we both ended up stopping for at the gas station. He commented on how well I rode, that I used my turn signals and how steady the speed was maintained (very nice guy by the way).

Get my RT hot, and my analog gauges look like "bobble heads" - nothing close to reality...

My tach will settle in at 1500 low - always reads "0" at stop lights…. not worth the 170 mile trip to the dealer tho….

I remember the times when motorcycles didn't have a tachometer or digital speedometers. It didn't matter, we shifted by sound, and looked at the speedo to get an "idea" of how fast we "might" be going. In today's technology, we are all so tuned to want to be "exact", we have become paranoid over everything. Come on, Spyder riders, ride it like you stole it, fix it IF it breaks!

Did he tell you how fast you were going??

Yup, I remember when we had to kick start with standard ignition, 100 kicks later you got it to stay running in cold weather.... no thanks, I expect each generation of vehical to make improvements. An accurate speedo and tach are musts not luxurys in my book lol.

On the highway I use my gps speedo...it seems to be closer than anything else. On surface roads I use my digital. I don't ever use the analog.

I find that I seldom look at the analog speedometer. I use the tach and the digital readout to stay in the ballpark and then sort of match speed to the rest of traffic. Probably the only place I really pay close attention is in a school zone.
I have found the digital readout to be pretty close compared to both GPS and those temporary radar setups that they do alongside the road.

My digital is 1 MPH slower then my GPS is. And I also remember kick start MCs and I am glad they are gone.

I tend to be an analog man.
.
The analog reading is kinda vague (like me) but I have noted that the digital readout is 2 mph slower than my GPS.

Me too!
And I LIKE that song!

Awwww, that's just mean! You must have ridden a lot of old thumper singles in your time. They'll develop your leg...and also a hatred for kick starting.

I've been using the analog Tach and Digital speedo. Because they are much easier for my eyes to see. By the way y'all have never really lived. Until you hyperextend your knee and the engine fires ramming your right knee cap into the chrome air cleaner starting a 58 Harley. I use to really love the advance/retard spark adjustment and kick starters. (NOT)

650cc singles in dirt bikes can also teach you the same lesson.

I still shift by ear. But as my hearing gets worse I get a louder exhaust. I seem to see a pattern here.
