    Default Lots of Spyders yesterday

My daughter called and said she had just seen an 18 wheeler with Spyder on the side unloading a bunch of three wheeled bikes at the local dealershp. I grabbed my checkbook and took off. There were 16 Spyders, yellow and gray, sitting in front of the dealer showroom. Alas, these were all prototype demos and not for sale. They were for several bike shows that are taking place here in FL.over the next few weeks.

I did get to talk with the southeastern area factory rep and he told me the following:

    1. The first shipment of Spyders will leave the factory early next week and should be at the dealer's by Friday the 19th.

    2. Each dealer has a list of customers who have put up the deposit, and the list is by date of deposit and color of machine ordered.

    3. When a bike comes in it goes to the next person on the list who has ordered that particular color. If the next person has ordered a gray and a yellow comes in, he is skipped over and the first yellow customer gets it. Also if a person drops out, everyone moves up the list one slot. The rep was very specific that no one was to be put into an empty slot out of sequence.

I am number 16 overall on the list and number 9 for a gray maching. He felt I would have it by Christmas. (Let's hope)!

I thought if you didn't get it in Oct, then it was March.

I emailed a product specialist for brp that i had met at a demo ride. he actually called me at home last night to explain what was going on. he said that the first round of spyders were crated and ready to leave the factory on oct. 16. he said that each dealer will be getting 3 spyders, 1 they have to keep as a demo. i am number 4 on the list at my dealership so i was sort of bummed, but he told me i should get mine by the end of november....not march. he said they have really been jumping through hoops for customs and the national transportation board doing inspections...that has been the delay. i tend to believe him because he didn't have to take the time to call me just to tell me a bunch of more crap...so no bike for me for biketoberfest but i am going to do a demo ride because he is going to be at daytona during the demo rides.

I was in my dealers showroom today and he told me they were expecting their first shipment any day now. I am on the second wave which he said will be here in January. The funny part is all of the spyders in my area only two of us locals got one all of the others were ordered by people out of town or state. A guy from Las Vegas called to check on his while I was sitting there. Kind of cool to know that I am one of two in the central valley that will be riding this incredable machine....

Just got off the phone with the Anaheim, CA office. Our worst fear is true. The dealer has been told this whole time that 14 would be delivered to them. Now the word as of today is that they are only getting 3, which are in transit. They will be designated by colors they receive and who is in line for the color available.
The next delivery is end of Nov or beginning of Dec. This will make us all pretty mad I am sure. I no longer believe anything that BRP tells us as far as delivery. Sorry for the bad news.

Good thing we have Football and Baseball playoffs...GO PACK !

This is a letter I got from Marc at BRP. It is what they have said all along. Dealers on the other hand have said many different things
The first production of a limited quantity of Spyder roadsters began in mid-September and these first units are scheduled for delivery in October. Units from this first production will be shipped to authorized Can-Am Spyder dealers in North America according to their allocation. A second and much larger production of Spyder roadsters is scheduled for early 2008. Once again, these will be shipped to authorized Can-Am Spyder dealers according to their allocation.

Your authorized Can-Am Spyder dealer will be able to inform you in which allocation your order has been placed and he/she will be able to provide you with an approximate delivery timeframe. Please note that delivery schedules are subject to change. For a list of authorized Can-Am Spyder dealers, visit www.can-am.brp.com

    Best Regards,

    Marc

Being 8 on the list in Anaheim and giving money last spring, I should be in the Oct run...BRP is low in production. They did not start production til Sept. All we can do is wait. The whole thing stinks though
