    Default 2010 RS-S VSS/DPS Failure caused by burnt fuse?

    Hi all,

    Had the dreaded VSS/DPS failure error flashing across the marquee.
    No brake lights, found the brake fuse burnt.
    So should I assume that's it?
    What would cause a fuse to burn at 13k miles?

    On a related note, why is there a 3w fuse in with the spares but no 3w fuse in use?
    If this is for the accessories then why not 2 of them?

    I know both brake lights going out can cause a limp mode, so it's pretty safe to assume a blown brake fuse can cause the same as well.

    "What would cause a fuse to burn at 13k miles?" Could be that it was a loose fuse. That is one of the possible causes.

    Know nothing about RS's but on the RT a 3amp fuse is used for accessory/cig. lighter charging outlet.


    Identify what you have control over and find peace with what you don't.

    You are going to have to find the cause of the burnt fuse. Most common is a short, often caused by wiring that has come loose and rubbed against a tire or other component. Tale a peek under the rear fender, and also look at any lighting mods you may have installed.

    No mods, no mas. Other than a Can-Am taller windscreen no mods.
    I'll look for a bare wire.

    You must be techno-psychic

    Stuck my hand under the rear fender and came out with what was left of the cable for the license plate light.
    Took the fender off and it looks like it was never on the cable stay under the fender.

    I'm not sure how to fix it as it looks like a section is missing and it is this weird ground in outer jacket over a separate slate colored wire affair.
    For I wrapped the ends in electrical tape and stuck both ends out of the way to make a trip to the dealer.
