The lower matte black side panel? The splash pans I can understand.... But this panel would be pretty noticeable if left removed.

We got the letter and voucher, but evidently BRP forgot to send the plan to all their dealers. Went in for my 600 mi. And presented a list of squawks and requested the panel. They had no idea of what I was talking about. I had to show them the voucher to prove I wasn't making it up, they said they'd look into it. Now, do they owe me, or do I have to wait for 4600 more mi to get it done?

If you are going to change your own oil and you want to save time then I would get the panel for your next oil change. If not what does it matter anyway? The only thing this does is help save time, that's it.

Seems BRP is once again proving the old adage......"No good deed goes unpunished".

They try and do something nice... and FREE if people follow the guidelines... and all they get is bashed for not making them gold-plated and shipping them overnight to everyone that has an RT.....

Chill out people.. you never knew you 'needed' this panel until they invented it....

Sure I'd like one.... but I'm not gonna blow an artery over it if I don't. If I absolutely have to have a dealer oil change to get one... then I will as I know the panel will benefit me when I do my own oil changes.

They could have just as easily sold this as a kit for $100....... which many of us would have paid.

All existing RTs are included. If you have not received a voucher, you should contact your dealer or BRP Customer Service, give them your VIN#, and be sure you are properly registered as the Spyder owner in BRP's database.

I'm going in for my 600 mile service tomorrow July 25th. I don't have a voucher yet to show the Dealer. But I did mention the new panel to them and they looked at me, like I was crazy. They said all we know about is the new longer OE5 oil filter. So make room in the boat for me.

It's just another example of the right hand not knowing what the left is doing. Happens in private industry, not just government as we all know. Most likely BRP has notified most dealers of the obvious but not PR and Marketing. Takes time...we got a lot more time than we got money!smoky

Well, been doing my first dyi oil change on RT S today (actually the past two days) and replacing the new lower panel which is supposed to make oil changes easier in the future. It's not a complicated process but boy, is it a process! Quite labor intensive. But, again, once you do it, its almost second nature the next time around.

I debated long and hard about removing the drain plug for the transmission but after reading several posts about not doing so, decided to leave it in place. Put in my initial three quarts of Amsoil and immediately got oil pressure. I had decided earlier to use exisiting washers and o rings except for the new transmission oil filter. Had no leaks, so I topped it off with total of 4.5 quarts of oil and am ready for the world. I fully expect with the Amsoil to probably change oil only once yearly but, again, the more I ride the more I like it.

With the tupperware off you get a full view of all the engineering that goes into a Spyder and garnish a greater appreciation of that engineering. I left the undercarriage cover just below the oil resevoir off for easier access to future oil changes as recommended by knowledgeable persons on this board.

I am looking forward to my future mods which include front Elka shocks and Lamont's foot rests. With that I will be the happiest Spyder rider in the country!

I guess local dealer has to call in your coupon and they order your panel.

they said they will only install the panel 1/2 labor $45 or it would be free with an oil change. no way to get panel and give them back old panel for free.

so we will wait until end of the ride season and have them do the final oil change before putting the spyder away for winter. coupon doesnt expire until spring 2013.

Folks, I gave the dealer $130 yesterday and heres what I got in return:
New panel installed free,
New transmission cover, filter, O ring,
New filter for motor and O ring,
New crush washers for two drain plugs and a
Grease job for front end.

I furnished my own oil. It also included a bunch of checks: tires, lug nut torque, etc.

Had I skipped these minor checks, which I would have had I understood in advance, I could have shaved about $30 off the price. Seems like a fair price to me.

I've been reading the thread re the new access panel, has anyone got a picture. Here is Australia I'm still wainting for further information. The new Oil filter and HCM Filter are available.

The replacement part is a new grill and the bottom matt black bottom panel.
You don't have to replace if if you don't to, that's up to you.

Here's a pic of the new parts on the floor and the old ones on the Spyder.

I must be dense today, but I'm not seeing the difference. Are you able to remove this new panel with out pulling the ones above?

Mark, It was installed on mine a couple days ago but I didn't see it before it was installed. I think you still have to remove the lower air wing and then the grill, afterwhich you can bend out the black panel to access the transmission filter. Either that or the panel can be pulled completely off. Won't know till I do my next oil change in 4K miles.

Yes. That is exactly the point of the new panel. Lamont also posted a photo of them side by side where you can see the difference in the mounting tabs.

when you say voucher are you speaking the letter they sent out in the mail.

Some more info I was able to gather.

1. When maintenance done by dealer, panels are automatically free of charges for consumer. If maintenance done by consumer, it is dealer's prerogative to decide if panels will be charged or not. Please note that BRP does not have control over dealer's decision to charge for panels or not.


2. Dealers don't have panels in stock, therefore it is very important to contact dealer to order panels prior to show up to dealership. Don't forget to mention that you will do the change of panels yourself. Also, reinforce that the new panels should be install at the next maintenance.


3. In terms of availability of panels at the dealership, be aware that dealer may decide to prioritize customers that will perform their maintenance at dealership.


4. 1 voucher per unit. If not installed properly or damaged during installation, it won't be replaced free of charges and/or not be covered under Warranty.
