RT-S rear suspension noise

When ever my 2010 RT-S rear wheel drops from a higher section of pavement to a lower one (1 1/2" or greater) or into a similar pot hole there is a clunk. It sounds like the shock is extending fully and bottoming out or something is loose. Any ideas? If I ever get a call back from Honda East I'll schedule visit.

Or perhaps no air in the rear air shock....

Put an air gauge to the valve under the seat and see what sort of pressure you've got in the shock...

Push down on the back of the Spyder.
When you release it, it should come up smoothly and without any klunks.
The klunk indicates a bad rear shock.
- very common.

Exactly the issue with my 2012.
Recently replaced and rydes like new again ...
Even with the undetectable, yet leaking somewhere, air bag.

The rear shock itself doesn't use air... it's the pillow bag next to it that does. They tend to lose air-- slowly.. so checking it every week is probably a good idea. Big difference in ride when it goes too low. I've also read that the RT rear shock is crap and they blow out pretty quick.... will wait for mine to go and then it's ELKA TIME !!!

Had the rear shock replaced under warranty about a month ago, had the same "clank" sound. The tech who replaced mine said that he's done about a dozen. Got a 2012 version on there now, we'll see....

Just checked it. I had pull up the manual on my computer because I couldn't remember the procedure to use the auto ACS. Full hard: 49lbs. Full soft: 36lbs.

I have over 10k on mine so it very well may be shot. So like you say may be Elka time.
