Plastic Washers
I've been using these for about 6 months now, finally remembered to get the number for them. They replace the thin plastic washers under the heads of the bolts that hold the tupperware on, they are thicker, and work pretty well. Ace Hardware UV Black 1/4 inch washers, #58059-N.

I made mine from heavy 4 mil drafing mylar.
In a bench vise set a 3/4" pipe nipple in the vertical position, position the mylar film over the end of the pipe and hold a 1" ball bearing over the now covered end of the pipe. With a hammer, give the ball bearing a good tap and you'll have a nice little disc. Cut the center hole with a hole punch and you've got washers....!!!

You have GOT to be a retired person or perpetual tinkerer with a well-appointed work shop
THAT just sounds like too much work for a $.29 washer

Yes, I'm a retired mechanical engineer and a continual model builder....so, yeah, I have a great selection of tools for just about every occasion. My dad and I used to make our own gaskets in days past.

Keep on being creative!
Having retired from your job it's fine and well deserved, but parking your brain would kill you.
Congrat!
