Side air deflectors
Has anyone removed the factory side air deflectors on the RT-S? I am thinking of taking them off to get more air flow for those hot days. I am not sure what purpose they serve and wanted to check before I took them off
Thanks

I didn't have the BRP shield on my 08 GS, But i did have the F4 evo shield with side deflectors, In the Summer the shields came off for two reasons heat and exhaust fumes [back draft]. In the Winter they went back on.

I remove mine in warm weather, you will get more air flow. it seems to help. (put the screws back in though).

Are you talking about the upper air deflectors by the vents or the lower wings by your feet ???

And if you do remove them, putting the mounting hardware back in is a must... (unless you don't mind not having the Tupperware a bit floppy! )
In Durango I saw a few that had removed the ones below the mirrors only. I'm going to take mine off before my next ride and I'll let you know how it feels.

It does make a difference in the amount of air you get.

But isn't the air coming out the vents behind the deflectors kinda warm or does running without the deflectors, all the air rushing past kinda cool it down ??

And they're off
Just took them off of mine, any extra air will be welcomed in these +100 degree days we're having here(now 5 in a row). Man, it's HOT out here!!

I removed the deflectors below the mirrors and added Baker Air Wings yesterday. It made a real difference. The Wings work great.

air deflectors...
I run with mine off during the summer months, but keep them in the trunk just in case I hit a stretch of heavy rain.

I am talking about the ones below the mirrors and from the feedback I am going to take them off. I also ordered the Barker air wings the feedback on those has also been great

Had some mods done today at Cowtown and Len took mine off before I headed out. He decided I needed more air in our 100+ here is MO. Did make a difference going home.

The best remedy for the 100 degree days: #1 take the air deflectors off. #2 leave the Spyder in the garage and go inside and drink something cold. That should do it.

The baker air wings are the best thing for eather one RT or the RS, They keep the wind off your knees and lages our you can open them an get a lot more air. Here in fl they are the best. Oh the help when it rains to. If you do take the upper wings off make sure you put the screws back in as it 's be said before. And for any one that has an RS, These thing make a big deferent on the air flow for the driver.
