SPYDER REAR TRUNK SYSTEM
first let me say this is a TEST run i am 99% it will work will be taking it up to laconic this Saturday will put about 300 miles on it will load it up with about 20LBS of stuff will post how everything goes took it out for about a hour everything seamed fine

Nice job. I love to see people innovate. Be cautious about putting too much weight in that big box though. The amount of lift from the box will be magnified by the length of the bracket the box is mounted on. You could become the first Spyder to do a wheelie if you load the box too heavily.

LOL the box looks bigger then it is it hold
3.7cubic feet and will only put 20LBS in it

Make sure you have it shielded from the exhaust. The heat rolling out the end of that exhaust pipe will turn your plastic into goo. ATV's will burn a hole in a sprayer tank that is mounted on a hitch and 3' behind them.

i did install a heat shield on the box

I would be concerned that if it did fail it would damage your brakeline and speed sensor cable. You would be surprised how much leverage is out there putting stress on those tabs.

that is one thing that did concern me I did us 3/8 flat stock I did stand on it and I am 200lbs
the trunk is 9lbs and there will. be 18 lbs of clothes in it I hope it will work lol

Well rode about 75 miles today riding 2 up and 20LBS of stuff in the rear trunk the heat shield held up great it did not even get that hot everything so far looks and feels great it's like the box is not even there.
i have a total of 150 miles on this test run so far started at 35 MPH to 95 MPH I and the wife will do about 350 miles tomorrow

Looks nice. curious though, why not go with a smaller box since you can only put 20lbs in it? Or does it just look bigger than it is? 20lbs of clothes? i guess you put yours in the saddle bags...

For some reason the pictures make the box look so much bigger then it is LOL 20 LBS of stuff fills it so nice sleeping bags towels and clothes we love to camp when we tour

Well we did 350 miles today everything went well will take it apart tommorow check every thing out before we do our 2200 mile round trip to Chicago coming up in July
