A site sponsor ISCI makes a very good handbrake. If you go to the home page there is a link to their website. Good Luck

Too bad ISCI doesn't make home visits...I never thought I'd want a handbrake, but it's kinda cool on the highway to sit back and relax...the handbrake would go a long way to help with this...

No, your foot brake will not be affected by the addition of the ISCI handbrake. So your girlfriend can continue to drive too.

No-- the ISCI kit retains full use of the foot brake also. It's not an inexpensive kit, but it is very very well made and reliable.

They also offer discounts for those who are disabled.

    NOT.
The ISCI Handbrake is one of the BEST aftermarket add-ons for the Spyder. It is much better than the cable-actuated brake that Can Am used to sell. It is expensive but worth every penny.

If your life is worth more than $1250 then my one word is "incredible", it has save me twice already.

First, I agree that its a bit pricey. Second, I bought one for my 08 GS as I have issues with my feet and ankles.
It does what it was designed to do, and does it well. Install was EASY!, as the R&D that went into making the bracket, custom slave cylinder, etc was invaluable!

If you dont need it, dont buy it. If its too expensive, make one. If its worth it to you for your enjoyment / safety to ride the Spyder, its worth every penny.

Are there any options in Canada comparable to ISCI? Are there any fellow Canadians that might have an idea?

IScI gets away with charging so much since they don't have any competition. Once they have some competition you'll see the price drop on this item.

There is a new brembro handbrake kit being sold but no directions provided. Link here : http://viets-performance.com/Sportbi...ke-Upgrade-Kit

That is not actually a kit. It is a part, without the means of making a complete braking system. Beware!
