    Default Preimptive Strike

Anyone ever had the problem of the battery going dead and not being able to get the seat up to jump start it or charge it? Just thinking of things I need to know about before I go on a trip next week. Only had the RT for 4 days now. The manual didn't cover it. In fact the manual didn't cover a lot of things I have questions about but fortunitely I found this forum which has helped immensely.

I'm not much of a wrench but it looks like I'm going to have to learn. Had my Kawasaki Nomad 1600 for 5 years and never had one break down or issue in 25,000 miles. Hoping for the same results with the RT but preparing for the worst just in case.

Would have stayed with the Nomad but the wife couldn't ride it any longer. Arthritis issues. The Spyder has allowed her to ride again. For that I am grateful. Just got a whole new learning curve. That LIMP Mode things sure scares me though.

I look forward to many more Post and Replies from all of you. Many thanks right up front.

The seat is activated by pushing down on the key and turning to the right--this will release the seat so you can get at the battery.

Yeah, just push the key down and turn it clockwise and raise the seat up. You should see a gas pump icon on the ignition.

Sounds like you have the same issues as some of the folks on here.. You are learning more than the "Dealer". That should have been covered in the introduction to your new ride...

Yes, thats one of the things pointed out by my dealer. Locking the handlebars also will lock the center storage compartment. He also said he hadn't seen anyone ever use this feature. Dale

FYI if you really dont know about locking, it seems that if the center console isn't closed tight, the key won't turn easily to lock the handlebars. So check that before putting lots of pressure on the key.

    Default Something new every day.

I'm learning something new everyday. Will have to try the steering lock tomorrow. Just finished a 250 miler today up into the mountains and back. Great day. Made it back in time to go see the movie Battleship. Got to go see it if you haven't. Great action show. Getting the feel for the new machine and my wife loves it. Lots of riding in the future. Really made her happy with this purchase.
