    Didn't know BRP brought the full Syn (Casterol) back.
    Still gonna stick with Amsoil.

    Thats why brp uses a summer grade I have been told by my dealer due to some cases of se5 clutch slip, which mine had, it did return to normal performance when they used the summer grade

    Yes I do, I have put them aside and will look the next time I have it apart. have put 500 miles on it since. everything is still there.

    Are they tupperware screws? Some of the panels overlap so if you don't get all the screws in the 1st panel the 2nd one covers up where the screw goes.

    I'am going AMSOIL after I use up the BRP oil. Look at BAJARON for oil, filters, and other stuff. He's one of our vendors and good guy to do business with.

    I was wondering if amsoil left out redline in fear of being out-performed or was tested but performed too good to be published and was left out. I guess it could the market share of redline but it seems they included less known brands.

    I also used Royal Purple for a bit, and it seemed fine....but I couldn't get used to the smell....just had a weird smell when running.

    AutoZone has 4quarts of full synthetic motorcycle oil,your choice of castrol,mobile1, or valvoline plus the filter for $34.99 until April3rd.I got four kits and was able to get them to order K@N filter for me since.AutoZone can also get the K@N oil fliter for $12.39 plus tax.

    I like reading about oil and tires in order to better educate myself, and would suggest if any of you find it boring, you simply "clik" off. Better yet, don't open the thread to begin with.

    Advanced autoparts have 4 qt. of full synthetic valvoline plus a filter for $29.99. I don't know if they would have oil filter for spyder but seems like a good deal even without it.
    It's says it meets requirement of jaso ma2, sj, sg, sf. That's within the requirements, isn't it?

    20/50 Is not recommended, as in don't use! 10/40 Is border line recommended,

    I've been using Amsoil 10-40 since the 600 change last summer and have 12K on it now. Don't know what weight BRP syn is but suspect its the same especially if its Castrol. My dealer says 10-40 is good year around but the climate here in NC is fairly mild.

    Not pushing Amsoil over other motorcycle oil brands but I think its a fine oil and its what I already had a supply of. With the short oil change intervals called for it prob wouldn't matter what brand you used as long as its motorcycle rated.

    I'm really tempted to try Rotella T6 5-40 syn which is Jaso/MA rated, but would like to hear more from anyone who has used it and if it caused their clutch to slip.

    Yes, T6 is MA rated and many people use it successfully in other motorcycles. Be aware, however, that when the JASO spec was revised, they came out with two new categories which are subdivisions of MA, that is MA-1 and MA-2. They essentially split the spec into two parts and MA-2 is the higher friction part of the original spec and MA-1 is the lower friction part of the original spec. So for our purposes, MA-2 is a better bet than MA-1. I contacted Shell to ask if T6 would meet MA-2 and was told in an honest answer that T6 would not "consistently" meet MA-2 requirements. Hence, they label it as just meeting MA. None of that means that MA is not good enough. It may well be. And it has been the holy grail in the motorcycle world for years. But now they've come out with MA-2 and it's a tougher spec to meet and would offer better clutch protection. BTW, the JASO spec also specifically allows API categories SG thru SM. So if a producer can meet SM specs and also meet the friction requirements of MA or MA-2, JASO is fine with that. Your choice whether to go with MA or MA-2. BRP is not telling us what's really needed.
