Default A MAP HOLDER THAT REALLY WORKS

FINALLY!! A MAP HOLDER THAT REALLY WORKS.
After nearly a year of searching, I've found a MAGNETIC map holder that works on my 2011 RT-S. It's made by "Rally Pack". It's a form-fitting pouch with a clear plastic map window, soft foam rubber on the reverse side, and 4 magnets sewn into it's two "wings". OF COURSE, THE MAGNETS DON'T OPERATE AS MAGNETS ON THE PLASTIC BODY, but they act to increase the thickness of the wings enough to allow them to securely wedge between the leading edges of seat and the panels below the glove box. Just raise the seat, place this map holder over the glove box, with its wings hanging down both sides, and close the seat. It's that simple. If you need to get into the glove box, just lift the seat and lift the map holder, then replace when finished. So far, the wind (ram air) has had no effect on the map holder, at all. I got the "Rally Pack" back in the days when I rode a GoldWing. Hope they still make it, os something similar. I know some members have been looking for something that works. This REALLY DOES.

I can't tell from the picture. Does it hold anything besides a map? I'm looking for a tank-something that will hold a few more things than the glove box.

Yep, I think this is it. Pretty sure it's made by DOWCO.

Nope, only maps and other FLAT items, such as tickets, hotel reservations, etc. It's only a map holder, and not part of a tank bag.

Old thread but wondering if anyone has looked at this recently and what else other people use. I use my phone for getting around but like having the big picture in front of me as well. Thanks.

I had one of those for my RS, and it was great. Unfortunately, it's made for the RS, so it doesn't fit on the RT-S. Hence my longing for one of the Hopnel pouches that I posted.

Good luck to you in your quest, in any case. I also like having the paper maps, myself. Then I can just use my phone's GPS for minor details, if needed.
