new york and brake light question
Is there some flashing sequence for the brake lights that is not allowed in NYS?
I've purchased the GEN2 brake strobe for my GS.

I'm not sure of the legal part, but I see them all the time. To me, if it is safer than the law shouldn't matter. In this case, those are very noticable and IMO safer.
-
As long as they don't keep on flashing; ie after 3 or 4 flashes at a stop they stay on steady, But then who's counting. Most Cops won't stop you for that Unless your doing something else to get their attention.

You might want to dig around a bit in the New York's DMV website to see if they've got anything in there on this...

My daughter's husband is a NYS trooper. I sent her an e-mail to ask him.

I ran sequential flashing brake lights on two V Max's for the past several years....they would flash 5 times then stay on....the bikes always passed inspection and I was never pulled over. I can't imagine you would be hassled for adding an obvious safety feature to your Spyder....unless, as previously mentioned, you had really irritated the LEO and he was looking for any and all violations to write you up on.
For peace of mind you could check with your inspection station, that's really where the rubber meets the road....if he passes it you're gtg!

He lives in Kingston and part of his duty is Accord. The reason I mention Accord is b/c he and rnet corrected my pronunciation of Accord. I have a Honda Accord and of course I pronounced it that way.Of course, he and rnet were very quick to correct me. Oh yeah, his substation is F-troop out of Ellenville.

I'm thinking of setting it up to flash a certain number of times, then stop for 3 sec., and then repeat until I take off.

I used led light bars from Custom Dynamics....3" I think, they have different configs, maybe got just what you're looking for.
Just curious but how do you pronounce Accord if Accord isn't right?

My son-in-law said the law is vague and is going to check into it. I figure if the law is vague, then the chances of being stopped go down.

Thank God, I'm working through my second container of SeaFoam this winter... and YAY, move the clocks on Sunday, so even more riding and summer's coming!
