NON BRP TRAILER WIRING
I have searched and read everything about trailer wiring that I can find on SL and I still find it a little confusing. I have a 2011 RT. I am planning on building the trailer hitch myself. I want to buy this trailer - http://www.minitrailerusa.com/shadow-trailer.htm the trailer is 4 wire. Do I need to buy this "2011 Trailer Pole Harness P/N 710002442" to connect to the spyder? Then do I cut the end off and splice
in the connector to match the trailer? I'm a little afraid to just tap into the spyder wiring for fear of causing problems. Any help will be appreciated.

You are making your own Hitch, you will also need the wiring harness for the spyder that delivers the 9 pin round to the back of the Spyder and then the pole harness will connect to that. You will need to clip the 4 wire end of the pole harness and wire it a four pin connector.
Hope that makes sense to you

Any idea what the part number is for the wiring harness that delivers the 9 pin round to the back of the spyder?

If you are making your own hitch, you will also need to wire the Spyder yourself and provide a connector. As far as I know the Spyder trailer module is not available without the hitch. The trailer Tongue Harness (5-wire trailers) or the Pole Harness (4-wire trailers) can be used to adapt a non-BRP trailer to the BRP 9-pole trailer connector. You can use whatever you want if you don't have this connector on your Spyder. I would be leery of connecting to the Spyder wiring, too, although some have done so successfully on the RT. I would recommend an isolated (powered) trailer module if you do go this route.

The part number to the Connection Module (9-pole round) on the Spyder is 710-001-811.

Thanks for that! It was not peviously available separately.
If the BRP module is used, the OP would need either the 2010 Tongue Harness for a 5-wire trailer, or the 2011/2012 Pole Harness for a 4-wire trailer. You can either use the trailer harness to build an adapter, or wire it directly to the trailer. The matching Deutsch connector and parts are available online, but it is less hassle to use the trailer harness.
