Limp mods
Forrest
first of all I am so sorry you are having this issue, this is absurd for a very expensive bike, this sounds like a lemon..be safe while riding.

Lemon, lemon, lemon........ Time for the report to NHTSA........Time for BRP to step up and replace or refund. Way too long to get it fixed right. Forrest, I have a good hook up for GOLDWING trikes......

1 going to Daytona and 2 Returning home.. . Yes I was on the expressway all three times.
If you think it not scary... go 70 and then hit your kill switch.. However, it may not cut your speed quite as fast to 20-30 MPH as Limp Mode but you will get a good Idea.
Sorry to hear this

Last night on I-95 I saw how you suddenly slowdown IN HEAVY TRAFIC.
A friendly advice: drop the Spyder to the dealer, let them decide what to do and what parts to change, have them ryde for a month, than pick-it up.

No way in he** would I be riding a vehicle with this many failures. Many of you know I parked my rs when the dps issues hit mine hard and I sought legal advise. Lets go BRP, I know you are reading these posts. Step up and do what is correct and safe for one of your unofficial ambassadors. Bad press can really sway someones mind if they are thinking about a purchase and see this or hear about it from any of us that know the issues.

Had a vibration in the front end, right at 17,000 miles, tires looked to be wearing unevenly so they were replaced and it was realigned.
Picked it up and noticed a vibration in the handlebars (new), storm warnings, wife on way to visit mother, decided to take it home. Going across a local bridge I was introduced to "Limp Mode" and I didn't like it, I was damn glad I was in the outside lane. I crossed the bridge and pulled into a parking lot. Tried to clear, couldn't, half way home decided to go for it got off main road and worried all the way home, hoped I wasn't doing harm to the RT. Pulled over to allow backed up traffic to pass checked oil, fine. Continued home. Dealer closed by time I got home so waiting until they open this morning.
Started it a little while ago, limp mode still displays, Spyder out of control icon also displayed. Dealer over 30 miles away mostly highway. Hope I can find a trailer.

Well I have some news, I think......
Thursday CPS installed a new throttle body ( # 4 ) + OEM = 5 throttle bodies. I have been on the road almost everyday, including Daytona Thursday afternoon, Clearwater Friday, Daytona Sat and went on the INTERNATIONAL SPEED WAY track.. WOW That was exciting never did get out of 2nd gear. I then became an escort type person to a great friend ( from Sherbrooke, Quebec) and headed north for food and a bit of a ride while adding up some miles on the Quebeker's home bound trip. We ( Sean/Cathy and Vedow) then returned Sunday and arrived home at 10PM, I had No Spyder Probems... Thanks to CPS, Kurt and Lamont.

Does anyone know how to spell L I M P M O D E ???
Well Yesterday evening at 25 miles an hour the Iron Horse went into limp mode /check engine. I made a call..
This morning I had a meeting in Clearwater and before I could get to I4, speed limit on the road 55 mph, I had 3 more Limps.
I got to clearwater, dropped off the bike and went to my meeting... Upon My return I was told that I had
TAS error codes.. ( Throttle accelator Sensor failure) that is that part of the device you twist with your right hand to make it go so I was told....
I made some other calls and at the moment I am in a wait state.and manged to get home this evening without incident. Now tomorrow is another thing.

I was only kidding about the limp mode when you left earlier too.
You have so much more patience than I do. Constant trips to the dealer for changing the same part, over and over again, with no good results. By this time, I or my lawyer would have been setting up a case for a faulty and unsafe vehicle. No matter what anyone on this or any other forums say, there is NO REASON for this to continue. HEY BRP TECH'S. GET OFF YOUR AS**S AND FIGURE THIS OUT. IF YOU CANT, MAYBE YOU SHOULD DISCONTINUE SELLING ANYMORE UNITS UNTIL YOU DO. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE, THE LOSS OF SOMEONES LIFE BY GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND WHEN THE LIMP MODE KICKS IN TO GET SOME DECENT ACTION??????? Glad you got home safe Forrest. 75 and I-4 are no places to have this happen, especially at 6:30 at night.

Yes,, thanks for asking.

DAVE01,,, thanks for the careing post... A little tough though, but, time is getting close for me to park it. I might be put into a position that I may not be able to make spyderfest nor Durango for the owners meet and I have reservations at both, but had to pre-pay at Durango with no refund.

Yes, a little tough, but you have had way too many limp mode issues and I know when the X-Press rides together, we ride in a pretty close pack. A limp mode like that at highway speeds could prove to be serious. BRP has had enough time to disect and repair your vehicle. I think a swap for another one, with no cost to you, would show good faith on thier part right now. Issues like I had were nothing like yours. Mine just kept me from riding where ones like you are having could end your riding, or worse. Lets see what part they want to change out next to try to resolve your limp mode issues.

Man, maybe you're just showing TOO MUCH patience. I agree that you've put up with far more difficulties than anyone should. I'd sure like to see BRP step up on this one and put an end to your trips to the dealer.

It has nothing to do with patience,
When your hooked to the only horse it town your reluctant to cut it loose.
Sometimes a little competition is needed, Until then,

Shoot horseie,,, ouch. but needless to say, since it is crippled, and not reliable, just maybe for the best.

Not saying anything is not the same as defending. There is so very little that can be said at this point. This has gone way too far, and is way too dangerous, for BRP not to have stepped in...although I am not sure either Forrest or the dealer has asked them to do so. Surely Kurt needs a Florida vacation about now, eh?
This one has gone to the point that it is rests in Forrest's hands. Patience is one option, begging for help another, and legal action a third. There may be others. When the Spyder is the only viable game in town, it is hard to condemn it...I know just exactly how Forrest feels in that respect. It breeds patience, even where the patience is wearing thin Let's hope somebody takes notice (maybe even the Federal government) and comes to his aid.

Thanks Scottie... but Kurt and BRP is aware of all my issues, as well as Lamont. If fact Kurt and Lamont took a look via the computer/buds when we were at the Daytona Speedway, under the stands, while we were waiting to ride the track...
I have a call in for Kurt at BRP, and have left message at CPS here in Kissimmee, to call me as apparently they are so busy, service and GM, to answer the phone, so I am in a wait state at the moment.
Yes you are correct, I think this isssue, this ??? no way,,,, These Issues needs to be addressed soon, I paid big dollars for the Iron Horse and now what do I have? A lame horse and I am getting stressed out, and at my age I don't need the mental stress, it is getting to the point that ridiing is no longer enjoyable due to the fear of Limp mode .
