It should not (does not for me) matter if you ryde a RT or a RS. We are a group of ryders that love ryding their Spyders. I ryde a RS, and have ryding buddies that ryde the RT.
Is it Friday yet? ... Oh yeah, I forgot. I'm retired

I ride a 2010 base RT with no mods except 2011 RT shocks to make it corner a little better and Alaska Leather seat pads. I've had two minor issues with it. First, both side panels blew off but they were both replaced by BRP and glueing the grommets in place solved the problem. The other issue has to do with the engine starting, idling too fast, a little over 2000 RPM, but barely having enough power to untrack. Kill it, turn the key off and on 3 or 4 times and restart it and everything's fine. I expect it's the throttle body problem that others have had, primarily on the 2011's. Admittedly, this may be a little more serious problem but since there was never a danger of being stranded somewhere it's still minor to me. My dealer has been working with me to fix it and it will be fixed for good before my warranty runs out.
The RT is far and away the best two-up touring machine I've ever owned. It's rock solid comfort on any highway I've been on and, while it won't run top end with a sport bike or, for that matter, a Gold Wing or a BMW, I have no problem staying up with the folks I ride with. RT's and RS's are different machines for a different type of ride, not necessarily for different riders. If I could afford it, I'd have one of each. Since I can't, the RT is the best choice for my wife and me.

Given a choice, for the stuff I don't do myself I would rather deal with you all exclusively.
Meanwhile, RTs are inherently more complicated machines and setup, assembly, and rider settings are critical. And like Bob mentioned, there is the crankiness factor. As time passes, I'm seeing a lot fewer posts about RTs that are rack rangers. If you have access to a trusted competent dealer, then fear not. When the time comes, get that RT, you will be so happy you did.

It is we who owe you a thanks. I never would have bought a Spyder were it not for the knowledge that a shop likes your's exists, and for the incredibly knowledable and helpful folks on this forum, such as Lamonster, Scotty and others. That's what made the difference in my purchase decision.

Many people here on this board were not around a few years ago when the GS/RS was coming out...they had plenty of problems..but with 3-4 years to correct them, it's a much better machine now...
The RT has many more electronic components than the RS. It's only logical that it will have more problems. I'm sure in a few years, they'll all be ironed out...until the next new Spyder comes out...then that will take the cake for having issues.

To me It's simple, treat people like you want to be treated. I know what its like being on each side's of the counter. Do it right, treat people right, know what your doing, find it out, or figure it out, and don't lie about........None of thats over complicated.
We..... meaning me! screw up and don't get it right every time, but do try hard to.
It's our biz to know.....and I do have a secret on stuff. There's this little form I know called "spyderlover"....I use it for a great info, to know whats going on....... ssshhhh don't let one of my secrets out
