Can you do me a favor and save a few of those pain pills for me for camping this summer. You won't need them all. Rest well tonight. Are the nurses hot ???

Red face The lil guy isn't even here, but he's still making ppl's day

I brought our 7" Galaxy Tab with me to the hospital so I could keep y'all updated on my progress & one of the nurses saw it & asked about the background pic of Teddy, so of course, I had to show her his pics & even the video of him ryde'n on the back & she was busting out in laughter. Then the word musta spread, cause another nurse wanted to see & then another. One even thanked me & said that familiar phrase, "You know, I was bummed out cause I got called in tonight, but see'n that, you just made my day, thank you!"

Hearing that never gets old, puts a smile on my face & that warm fuzzy fealing in my heart

Default This has been one helluva night

Guess they were pumping me full of liquids with that IV cause I had to get up & go to the bathroom 9 times over night. Needless to say, I haven't got much sleep at all & yeah, get'n out of bed is extremely painful right now. Thank goodness for Morphine & muscle relaxers This Pod, where I am, the nurses walk around with a portable computer on wheels, almost like a robot of sorts, but thats how anything & everything is tracked, including me. Everytime they give me something, they have to scan my bracelet & then whatever they are giving me & also scan their key card. Well their "robot on wheels" is also on line & earlier in the night, I had told the nurses about Teddy & how he's got his own thread on SpyderLovers.com where we chronical our Spyder'n Adventures. Next thing I know, she's got this site pulled up on her robo-puter & she's asking me how to find Teddys Adventures thread

So glad to hear the good news. Yes the surgical site is a bit tender, but just think you are up and walking and soon you will be home with Teddy by your side. Praying for a really quick recovery so you and Teddy can get back on the sled. Love from your Spyder Family. Heal quick

Cool Aint that the truth * Teddy has new fans, including my surgeon

My surgeon just left after telling me about what all he found while he was in there. They got me up & walking using a walker & then, very slowly, up two flights of stairs. Thought it was gonna kill me, but I had to do it if I wanted to be released today, so I grinned & beared it, gotta get home to Teddy. He asked about my living situation & I explained its just me & Teddy but we also have family & friends that stop by & check on us daily. So of course, the scene repeats itself & I show my surgeon the pics & vids of the Tedster & you could just see the enthusiasm in his eyes as he watched the vids of Teddy do'n his thang. My surgeon is a young guy, guessing late 20s or early 30s & he was taken by the Spyder, said he had no clue about them, but was deffinately gonna look into them now. And he asked me to bring Teddy with me when I go to see him for my follow up visit in a week & a half. Such a lil dog brings SO much JOY to SO many I'm one lucky guy to have him in my life & get to enjoy share'n his JOY with so many

Well, I DO have insurance, so my co-pay for Specialists is only $40 so I don't think that'll give him much financial incentive Now as far as how much my insurance company pays him in total for the surgery, thats a whole other story No clue how much that'll be for him

Exclamation So Glad to be home with Teddy, but WOW, percocets don't help near as much as morphine

I'm SO PROUD of Teddy, staying all by himself for the first time overnight & he didn't tear anything up, nor even had an accident

He musta licked me up & down for a solid 5 minutes

Its good to be home, but I didn't realize how much pain I would be in durring this recovery period.
While in the hospital, I was given morphine for the pain, along with muscle relaxers & that made the pain very manageable.

But now that I'm back home, its back to the Percocets & Flexeril, and well, its not nearly as effective, I'll just say that.
Just getting up from a sitting position is a major challenge right now.
And I gotta remember no BLTs
    B
    ending . Lifting . Twisting

This too shall pass with time

So GLAD you are back home and I know Teddy is sure thrilled. He will take good care of you. Most important thing for you now is to rest and let the body heal. If the doctor told you to get out and walk.... then do it. It was hard for me at first and I did not enjoy using a walker around the subdivision... but in the end it did make things go better. Dave, Flexeril did not work for me and I had the doctor change it to Skelaxin (generic is Metaxalone 800 mg). I would have to say some of the muscle spasms were worse than the healing from surgery. When they hit, the HIT and it is no fun especially when you are just behaving, doing nothing and one of them just up and grabs you. I am one of those people that can't take percocets (really make me feel bad bad bad and stupid). Instead I have oxycodine. So if you don't think what you have is working don't be afraid to ask for something different.

How long did the doctor say you would be off work and off the bike? Just so great to hear your good news. We are all hoping and praying for a speedy recovery cause you know we all would love to see you at SpyderFest. And if you can't come we know you will be there in spirit. Keep us posted

Lightbulb We have EVERY intention on making SpyderFest 2012, but. .................

When my surgeon filled out my short-term disability paperwork, he put my "Projected" return to work date of May 1st, albeit thats just an estimate for the paperwork & it all really depends on just how well I'm progressing with time. I do have a somewhat physical job, not sitting at a desk push'n papers. I work at the Ford plant in Sharonville & there's just me & one other employee in my Department, manufacturing Direct & Forward Clutches for the soon to be discontinued 5R110W Heavy Duty Automatic Transmissions. Its being phased out & replaced with the new 6R Heavy Duty Transmission. Thankfully, I'm NOT in Assembly, as that is one of the hardest & most soul killing departments in the whole plant, IMHO. Some ppl are ok with doing the same exact thing over & over again, but that's not me. I like having the freedom of do'n what I want when I want at my own pace & I know I'm weird, as I actually LIKE to work Luckily, the clutches that we manufacture in my department aren't that heavy, less than 5pounds & most of my job is just making sure all the machines stay running & wrestling with that dang Automatic Laser Welder thats a P.O.S. I can't imagine that I'll actually be off until May 1st, but if that IS the case, then Teddy & I WOULD be able to attend SpyderFest. If I go back sooner, then I doubt I would be able to take off the time needed to attend so here's to Hoping & Teddy & I are keep'n our fingers crossed
