    Default A fun snowy ride

Had a really great ride today with my wife Becky on the back and Regina (Catniption here on Spyderlovers). I am very jealous of her mods on that pink . I would need probably about $4K to try to catch up!
Anyway--the Spyder doubled as a snowmobile quite well. We rode up to the crest of Sandia Mountain here in Albuquerque (about 11,000 feet) and the roads got pretty dicey. But the Spyder took it in stride. It was one of the more fun rides I've been on--and certainly memorable!
Here are a couple of pics.

Man, you folk remind me of Dean from east coast of Canada, he always has pics of snow as well. Did the traction control nanny cause you any grief ? Around here bikes/spyders are grounded unless you are feeling lucky or stupid. My Spyder in hibernation mode, for a few months( probably six) till mother nature gives a spring blessing.

No...no nanny issues. I have a manual transmission, so when I went over icy or snowy areas on the way up, I would grip the clutch and just stroll over the hazard. No worries. Not sure what Regina did, as she has a semi-auto transmission. But for me it wasn't bad. Even in areas where it was purely snow, i just kept it nice and easy with no worries. And on the 10 mile decline, i typically left it in 1st gear and used engine braking to keep me cool around the curves, then popped it into neutral for pretty much the rest of the way....until we got out of the ice. Then it was "how fast will this thing go?"
It was a great ride, man. A LOT of fun!

Snow doubt about it, you can turn a Spyder into a snowmobile! I had no problems at all. Miss Shelly Kitty just done her thing and we had a blast. I hope this link works. I haven't actually watched this from start to finish, but this is from the top of Sandia Peak down.

Regina FYI: Youtube removed the video---said it was too long. Any chance you can cut it in half and post it again?

Of course the Spyders should do well in snowy conditions; it's all of that Ski Doo DNA ...
(But they STILL don't have tracks and skis...)
