So just how many of us venture out towing without a spare tire?
I know that I'm guilty!

It's worst than I thought. Looks like I loss a wheel bearing and who knows what else.

Glad its only a flat and nothing more personally serious.
First, think you will now add it to your trailer tires, and;
Second, do you think having it would have prevented the blowout, and;
Third, how did the bike handle/feel like during the flat?

Just curious. I put Ride-On in mine, and did not want to hear of a flat with it in there. I also carry a Stop-N-Go tire plugger and a compressor. I have considered a spare, and carry one on my tent camper, but I hate to give up the space and the weight. I hope you can get a bearing, and be back on the road soon.
Just a reminder to all, that there is a maintenance schedule for the trailer, too. Although the schedule calls for greasing the bearings every 12,000 miles, this is hard to track. I suggest doing it at the beginning of every riding season. The bearings and seals can be inspected and replaced (if necessary) at that time.

Don't know if they make them for the Spyder, But i put Bearing Buddy's on all my Trailers, Makes it easy to grease, and see if they need grease, Also i think 12,000 miles is too long an interval between greasing, Especially with relatively small tires [hubs]

Sorry Lamont that you have a tire problem and possibly a bearing issue as well.
I have a sneaking feeling that the bearing went out thus causing the tire to hit the trailer and cutting that big gash.. Just a guess.
Hope you get it fixed and on the road very quickly and will see you in Daytona..

My thought too. Bad bearing+heat= blowout.

I think Bearing Buddys would require a change of wheels, or modification of the RT-622 wheels. They are not made to fit closed wheels or wheels with flush hubcaps.

Just pulled into my hotel in Daytona. My tire was fine till the wheel locked up and blew the tire. I had a wheel bearing fail and that's what caused the tire to blow. Got about 3 hours of web work to do now so I can't go into details but I made it. Turned out to be a 700+ mile day but I feel pretty good considering.

Glad you made it safely Lamont. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.
We're all looking forward to your updates.

Scotty- now that I have a trailer, I'm reading with great interest. I want to do as much preventative as possible. I read that Ride-on can give out of balance. I'm guessing you didn't have that? I will get the Stop-n-Go to keep with me.
