Default First Big Trip Completed - Two Days Around the Olympic Peninsula

What a blast! While a 'short' trip by the measure of some of those more experienced folks out there, this was our longest open-road experience so far since acquiring "Sharky," our RT-S, in July. We left Monday from our house, about 13 miles northeast of Seattle; drove through Tacoma; across the Tacoma Narrows bridge, then stopped in Shelton (we have a vacation place there). Then we rode out to Aberdeen on the coast, and then up to Lake Quinault, where we stayed at the lodge there overnight. Today, we completed the loop around the top of the peninsula, stopping at Rialto Beach and Lake Crescent, before reaching Kingston and taking the ferry across Puget Sound back to "our" side of the water. The weather was all beautiful sunshine and temperatures from the high 50's to low 70's the entire 430 miles of the trip. The RT performed flawlessly, never missing a beat. And I kept the shiny side up the entire trip.

Here's some pix: Radgirl on the pier at Lake Crescent, admiring the view (I'm admiring the view of her...); Radgirl trying her best to be a treehugger; and her again atop Sharky, ready to zoom off and leave me behind...

Wow, looks like a perfect trip. I'm getting the itch real bad again to take off somewhere.

We stopped at Shelton, visited Aberdeen and took both the Kingston and the Port Townsend ferries on our way to and from Spyders in the Redwoods. Washington is certainly a beautiful state. I want to do the Olympic Penisula loop soon, too. Hope to see you at the Oyster Run, Radguy, and at the Calico Cupboard.

We should be there, barring any unforeseen circumstances!

This IS a great trip..needs to go on the USA Spiderweb list for WA state....I haven't done this on Ms Spyder yet...but in October (barring early snow in the passes) I will be running to the San Juan Islands..then plan on repeating this "circle" and back to the East side of the state....
Thanks for sharing...highly recommend to folks not familiar with touring in WA state.

Rode that 10 years or so back. Great roads! Loved the ferry custom (bikes on first/ off first).
