New Spyder Owner
I love our (Yol Bolsun and my) blue RT SE5. I never was interested in riding a regular motorcycle. I was a passenger only when hubby had his Goldwing 15 years ago. Once we bought the RT in May this year, I had my "license to drive" by the first weekend in June. I ride the RT to work (about 32 miles one way) a couple of times a month. The rest of the time I am a passenger, except for short trips around Covington.
Last night, when I got home from work, hubby stated that Mountain Motorsports in Conyers had a used 2008 YELLOW GS/RS, # 488; however, it was a manual transmission. I have driven a stick shift car, but never a motorcycle. I was not too sure about it.
After our first meeting of GA Spyder Riders in Social Circle followed by a short ride through the area countryside, 5 RTs made a sidetrip to our dealer. I fell for the yellow bumblebee. Luckily, hubby was sold the night before. Thanks to a great relationship with the dealership and a fantastic salesman (Bloke), we came home with my Spyder. I had hubby drive it home and I followed on the RT. I will go for some practice drives in the local school parking lots to get comfortable with the manual shifting before I venture on traveled roads. It may take me a while to build up to mountain roads, but I am soooo excited to have my own Spyder. I think it was meant to be as I already had the embroidery designs downloaded for this Roadster - model and color exact.
I will try to give fair warning once I venture out on public roads so that anyone in a hurry may want to take a different route.

It was a wonderful day in soooo many ways! First let me say CONGRATULATIONS !! When you came into the showroom from 'out back' you had that Spyder Smyle - grinning from ear to ear!.
The gathering of the GA Spyder Ryders was a blast, meeting you and your husband as well as the others was great. But being there when you first sat on the bike - that I will remember! I will write more on the Chapter site.

Hey Melanie... congrats.
Bloke made another sale.
He told me he has now sold over 65 Spyders since he joined the dealership back in '09. that may be a Georgia record.
You'll get the hang of the manual shift in short order.
Penny and Rick have owned many motorcycles starting in 1974 with Honda’s, then to Suzukis, Gold Wings and ultimately Spyders.

on your new ryde. At the moment--Yellow is also my favorite color. Have not yet seen the new green though--then it might be a tie.

Which one today? That is the question?
It is a beautiful day in GA - which Spyder did you take on your commute today?

I rode the RT on Monday. It will be a while before I get out of the neighborhood on "Miss Daisy". I had hoped to "drive" her more this weekend; however, we have a funeral out of state instead. I am off tomorrow and, weather permitting, I plan to get some practice time in.

Congratulations Melanie.
We wish you nothing but safe rides, Peace. C ya soon.

progressing with the sm5
Still in the neighborhood only...but I have gone thru the gears to third and back without stalling. Hope to do the practice exercises next weekend and maybe on to less busy roads.
Miss Daisy now has her touring windshields and her name and will have her handlebar risers and givi trunk by the end of the week.

Finally on the road
I finally actually "drove" Miss Daisy. I work 30+ miles from home and I drove her to and from work yesterday. Didn't stall the engine until I got home to our driveaway. She has her new 4" risers and with the ultra touring windshield, she is a "new girl". I have decided we need different mirrors as half of the mirror shows my hands. I want more lights on the front as well, but the BRP fog lights are $$$. She will have her new Givi trunk soon, hopefully before her first "road trip" to Augusta with the GA Spyder group (name is still in the polling stages) on August 22.
As far as the manual transmission goes, I still want to get to the point that my shifting is smoother, but I just need more time "Driving Miss Daisy". She has to stay home this weekend as I am not ready for mountain driving or interstate driving. (We (Yol Bolsun and I) are going to Cloudland State Park toay, on to Nashville on Saturday and then home through the Ga mountains on Sunday. The RT and trailer will make this trip.)
