Question Help: Can you identify these brackets?

I've found a pair of brackets under the front fascia, left hand side.

See photo. I've color-washed the brackets yellow to make them more obvious.

Together they obviously hold something about 4.5" wide.

Anybody know what the missing item is?

There is nothing attached to these on the stock Spyder RT. Obviously the engineers had something in mind, but until someone ends up with an option or accessory installed there, we will never know.

Thanks Scotty. I was looking to fit a Stebel Nautilus air horn. According to the fitting instructions the Nautilus should be mounted upright in both directions. I think the space between or near to the brackets is a good option. I'll try it, now that I know the space is good to go!

But I'll appreciate some applause if it works out. And also maybe a fanfare or two, a Dixie band, a dozen cheer leaders and a crate of beer. Then I'll wake up and discover I'm down a rabbit hole with the Wicked Queen... Don't you just hate sad endings?

Do those brackets hold either the CB / Communication module or the XM radio module ?

Speaking of grattittude, dude. Undying you say? What about the genius who invented the incandescent light bulb, you'd think gratitude would be undying in his case, yes? For being the first to bring light into the dark corners of life at the flick of a switch? Well, it turns out now that the creep was responsible indirectly for global warming and here in Europe we are all converting to mercury-filled light bulbs to save the planet. Do they realise or care how poisonous mercury is? Undying gratitude means gratitude for ever. For all time to come. Not gratitude only until your reputation is shredded on a whim by a bunch of scare-mongering egg-heads.

Tomorrow I will find a way to install my Nautilus. It contains no mercury.

    Default Use for mounting bracket...

SOMEONE needs to come out with either a machine gun or rocket launcher to fit there, for those who pull out in front of you!
    Regards-

They look like the brackets that hold the fuse box on my 2008 GS.

Default Brackets for additional Fuse Box

Ref those Brackets - I have found a use for them

    I have fitted an additional Fuse Box - FZ-1 - .See http://www.fuzeblocks.com/

I have connected a Power socket, Running Lights, Clock and Voltmeter off it - all fused

The problem was where to locate it ?

It had to be easy access to allow for any changes (Adding more accessories) - Replacing Fuses if needed and
also the runnning of wires etc

A Location where it would not get too hot _ Difficult on the Spyder RT - S
and would not be prone to failure due to the weather

Having looked at the those brackets and their location and with the size of the FZ -1 Fusebox - this was my chosen location

I found the location ideal for running wiires to either side as the Fusebox is on the RHS (Looking from the front)
any wires needed for the LHS run under the lights behind the Front trunk (Plenty of room)

I fixed the Fusebox with Heavy duty velcro and Zip ties which hold it very secure - it has extra wire which allows me to pull it out when I need to
Although the fusebox is under the RHS Service cover I have added extra sleeving to protect the wires and made a rubber sheet which covers over the top of the FZ1 - Fusebox stopping any Water/Dirt etc

I have been in 2 storms and not had any problems

I have posted some photos as this may help others

And a good use of the space, too, there's no doubt about that.

I've just visited Nippy Norman's and had a look at the specs for the FZ-1. A bit expensive I thought, but plenty of features --- if I bought one I'd be looking for additional electrical stuff to add to the RT as a way of justifying its cost!

Smatter of fact I'm close to needing a fusebox. As well as the Nautilus, I have connected up a Zumo 550, an Autocom and a 10 amp socket for my wife's heated jacket, all powered by in-line fuses. Happily, I am about done with electrical extras (until the next "must-have" item comes along)! When that happens I'll probably get a box and rewire everything to it. Good fun and educational, too!
