Smile GPS using BRP gps mount

I got the BRP version of a GPS mount as part of my purchase package. I already owned a Magellan Roadmate 1440 which I have used with great success in my truck and my wife's Camray so I didn't want to spend big bucks on another gps for Spyder.

I do some hobby woodworking and never throw anything away.

The BRP gps mount kit includes a special casting designed to fit on the handlebars, two 1 inch RAM ball mounts, a clamp to connect the two RAM balls and wiring to hard wire a gps unit into the electrical system.

My Roadmate 1440 is one of the models that no one makes a cradle for that can be attached to the RAM system. Using scrap plexiglass, MDF and mostly hardware I had around the shop, I created the holder for my unit. I use the plug in power for the gps. I plug it into the switched 12V outlet I installed in the trunk. When I turn the key on, the gps wakes up. The shade was made from a 50 cent poly folder from Walmart. I have enough material to make another if this one gets destroyed.
