Ok I really want cruise now and I know Doc McCruise is a hot set-up, however I want to save $$$ on it cause I think this will be the last season for this one. I want a new RS but will wait for a 2012. I will sell it with the cruise so sound off here on suggestions but I'm leaning on Audiovox. So any suggestions are welcome and if kit#'s are available I'm compiling all available data.
Why am I procrastinating you ask???
I'm lazy and not looking forward to the install but my numbing hand continues to give me fits.
I have the throttle lock already but I shave the speed limit so close that could get me in trouble in downhills.
I am interested in installing the Audiovox 250-1316 cruise control also. Maybe we can all get together ito install them and have Dabreitbach help set them up.
Question for Dabreithbach:
Do you use the magnetic speed sensor or VSS?

I too was interested in doing the electronic version of the Audiovox unit.
A few out here have said they installed them-- but I've yet to see any details or photos of the installs......
Spyder #1 - 2008 GS SM5 Premier Edition #1977. RIP after 80,000 miles.
Spyder #2 - 2012 RT SM5. Traded in after 24,000 miles.
Spyder #3 - 2015 F3 SM6. Put 13,000 miles on and sold it.
Spyder #4 - 2017 F3 SM6. Too good of a deal to pass up!
I may take you up on the offer of help when I get the parts in.
Yes those are the parts. Check around and you may find some deals on them. I just siliconed the switch and made my own bracket to mount it on the clutch lever housing. Let me know if I can help.
I have gotten the Audiovox cruise control. Where did you mount the VSS sensor magnet? I have looked on the forum but none of the pictures show the sensor. Is it on the rear wheel inside the belt sprocket?

Dabreithbach:
I sent you a PM also.
Thanks
Never got your pm but you glue it on the outside of the front pully sprocket. The is a bolt above the sprocket that you can mount the pickup on.

If you follow Lamont's pic and set the dip switches to suit, you don't use the pickup coil and magnets.
I am installing the electronic Audiovox cruise control. The link is talking about a CC100 vacuum cruise control. If you don't use the magnet then what color is the VSS wire. I don't find Lamont's original photos of the install.
I installed the audiovox on my Suzuki Burgman a year ago. I had to fab some custom brackets but over all it was a relatively easy install. When I took it out for the test run it would not turn on at first so I changed some DIP switch and it worked but, it would not lock in under 60 mph. It took some head scratching but then I realized I had to add more magnets to the wheel. When I did that it worked great. Locked in at 25, and becuase the Burgman was automatic, it stayed locked on through out the gears. I did buy buy a small after market vacuum motor and a vacuum switch to trigger it on and off so it did not run continously. This just allowed my cruise to stay locked on even up long hills when the engine vacuum is less and the vacuum can depletes.
My cruise control should arrive tomorrow by tracking so friday night will be a late night. anyone looking for something to do friday night there's a party in my garage in tiffin iowa.
