Later this week I will be posting a tentative ride and stop route from Nord Ride parking lot in Mt Morris, MI to the Mackinaw Bridge. This is the Lake Huron ride up to the Bridge and will include a couple of stops to pick people up along the way. I am going to do my best to time this with gas stops and will take into account people that are driving the RT.

As of right now my wife, Nancy, and I are planning on attending this event. Will be making reservations tomorrow for somwhere near Flint and then at that the Northernaire or the Pines. What do I need to do to be registered for this Ryde and is there a reg. cost? Looking forward to it.....looks like a Great Time.

So happy to have you join us. No, there is no registration fee. This is just a vacation and a ride with friends. I will add you to the updated list. If you are coming through Canada toward Flint on I-69 through Port Huron, there is a Comfort Inn just east of Flint in a town called Davison. It is about 6-7 miles from our place and you could meet us for the ride Friday morning on the way to Nord Ride. If you are coming up from the south, there are a few choices on the I-75 Corridor. If you get off on Holly Rd just south of Flint by Genesys Hospital, there is an AmerInn and a Holiday Inn Express. North of Flint, just off Miller Rd. on Austin Parkway there are about 3 different places, I will have to look to see which ones are there. Anyway, let me know if I can be of any help.

I added my wife. I wasn't sure she was going but she is in as long as Joe doesn't talk about riding in cold weather with heated gear.

I am not sure of our plans yet as we are taking our vacation the week after the ride and we may be staying in the UP for a couple of extra days to do a little sight seeing. I want to see some of the places I always visit in winter to see what it looks like not covered in snow.

Aug. 12th is sneaking up on us quickly everyone. I was wondering if I could get a shout out from everyone that is planning on meeting us at Nord Ride for the start of this ride. I don't want to leave anyone behind and if I know who is planning on being there, we are more likely to prevent that from happening. I would like to plan the meetup for 0900 so that we can be on the road promptly at 0930. We will be picking up Jason as we drive by M46 & M83 intersection. We will be picking up Kim as we drive by Beaver & M-13 intersection. These will not be true stops, just pick ups. We will stop for a quick lunch and fuel in Tawas where we will also pick up Buck and his wife. I plan on stopping at the Subway but there is a Burger King and McDonalds within a mile of the Subway as well as fuel. Would like to keep this stop to 1/2 hour. There will be a couple of scenic stops along the way for photo ops as well. Would like to be to the south east side of the Bridge by 1530-1600 to meet any other SpyderLovers that want to all cross the Big Mac together. Please give us til 1600 as a group ride on side roads always seems to take a little longer. If any one has any questions, please just PM or give me a call. I can't wait everyone.

Joe and I will meet you at Nord. When we went to Birch Run last week I noticed that the Mt. Morris Rd. exit on I75 was or is closing. Will that affect us? We will be coming from I69 to I75.

Right now from I-69 & I-75 you should not be affected. The bridge going west was closed but has since reopened. When you get off the exit at Mt. Morris Rd. just turn right and just past the gas station/truck stop turn right on Exchange Drive. Nord Ride is down less than 1/4 mile on your right.

I know you are staying at the Tradewinds in St. Ignace. Ken told me that was recommended after some of the others were sold out. I hear it is just down the road from where we are staying. I was wondering about the night before you meet us at Nord Ride. Will you just be riding in that morning or are you staying somewhere near or in Flint?

    Default Ready to head north

    Ms. Deb
I am planning to be near Nord Thursday night so I am ready and waiting 9am Friday morning.
I am clueless about where to stay------but someone will have better plans then I have. Just let me know where everyone is staying and I'll call for resevations.

This ride cannot come soon enough-------
Its my guess before heading home Sunday we will be making plans to get together again soon.

Is anyone coming from Minnesota or Wisconsin? Butch might let me swipe his spyder so I can go (he can't get the time off) and it would be nice to meet up with someone coming across from this way.

Default Places to stay on Thursday night.

There are a number of choices of places to stay on Thursday night if you are staying over near Flint before the meet up on Friday morning. Just north of I-69 and off the Miller Rd Exit on I-75 is a Comfort Inn, Super 8 and Red Roof Inn. For a little bit nicer places, just south of I-69 on the I-75/23 exchange at Hill Rd or Gateway Center, you have a Holiday Inn, Residence Inn and Marriott. If you want to continue east of Flint on I-69 about 6 miles from our house is a Comfort Inn in Davison MI and we could all ride up to Nord Ride together. This Comfort Inn is just north off of Exit 145 on I-69. This Comfort Inn has better reviews than the one in Flint and has plenty of places around it to eat as well. If I was going to pick one, I think I would lean toward the Comfort Inn in Davison. There is a Baymont on I-75 off Pierson Rd. I don't know a lot about this hotel but the area is a bet iffy. You don't want to be on the east side of the expressway exit at night over there, that is for sure. If you stay on the west side, you should be okay and there are some places to eat there as well. A little further south of I-69 just off I-75 at the Holly Rd. exit there are two decent places also. Here you will find a Holiday Inn Express and another Comfort Inn. This is about 8 miles the other direction from our house with easy access to the expressway. Just let us know where everyone is staying and we can try to get together for dinner on Thursday night if it works out. We did tell Gene afterall that we need to get him a real Coney Dog.
