givi e55 top box installation ?
Does anyone have experience installing the givi e55 top box with tail lights? I've done almost no mechanical work on my Spyder, so I could use step by step help from the very beginning, such as removing the rear fairing. Are there any videos anywhere online? I've searched, but found nothing so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.
I put one on my spyder.
The first thing is what base plate are you going to use?
The GIVI 770, Or are you going to use the sport rack?
-

Thank you in advance,
Doug

Do you have the instructions?
-
Yes, but they don't seem to be very thorough.

OK I will try to help where I can.
What year is your Spyder?

Finally got the first two pieces attached to frame. About to drill the 4 holes.
-
Holes drilled, tail piece back on. Ready to connect to brake wire, but how in the heck do you know which one it is?!
-
Box is on, but leaving panels off 'til I can hook up the blue wire. If you can help me figure out which wire to hook it to, I'll owe you a cold one! Hope you've had a good day!

ok it is black on black and the blue wire from the top case goes to the white wire on the brake lights.
Quick tip for anyone who may do this mod in the future, get posi-taps for the connection.
This is from my post on givi top case wiring. On 3-12-11.

I hooked up the black and white lines to the battery, like the diagram indicated, and just left the blue dangling for the night. I found the lines to the left and right brake lights, but they seemed to split from a thicker, wrapped central line that looked to have several wires in it. Will I need to unwrap that to get to the one white wire to connect the blue? Will the white line to either left or right do the trick?

Um which kit do you have for the top case? The GIVI brake light kit or the ADDMORELIGHT kit?
The GIVI brake light kit only had 2 wires.
-
It came from Givi, I haven't seen anything about Addmorelight. It has 3 wires wrapped together, with the blue splitting off and farther down the black and white splitting from each other. The black and white have round terminals on their ends, which the diagram showed being attached to the positive and negative battery terminals.

Friend I'm lost.
Mine came from GIVI also.
I only had 2 wires.
Lets see.
Each light has 2 wires coming from them.
those connect to a terminal block in the top case.
Then there is a terminal block that is put on the rack that the top case will connect with when locked down on the rack. That round two pin connecter will have 2 wires that run from the rack mount to the tail light connections.

My connector has 3 pins. I bought the remote control, could that have anything to do with the 3rd terminal/wire?

I think that is it. Power leads to the battery for the trunk popper.
-
So, can I tap the blue into either the left or right white wire?

Go with the one on the left.

Thank you so much for your help. I'm heading to bed and will get back to work on it tomorrow afternoon. Hope you have a great weekend.

We're back
Al,
Sorry about the long delay in responding, we just got back from a long trip, so I'm getting back to work on the Spyder.
Today I spliced the blue from the case to the white on the brakes, but still got no lights on the case. Any more suggestions?
Thanks,
Doug
