    Default Beware of Some Dealers

So I took my spyder in for the DPS recall last year to the dealer I purchased it from as well as who had done all recalls/services. At the same time I had the oil changed and a new rear tire installed. Well now that my spyder has been moved to a new dealer at BRP's request I find out that the DPS was never replaced

    WOW, just WOW!
No wonder BRP rerquested you take it somewhere else. I assume this has been reported to them (BRP). I have a suspicion the old dealer wont be carrying the BRP line for long.

A clarification is needed... Did the old dealer let you think that the DPS replacement had been done??

I would request BRP to send you a copy of their records, get your copy of the dealer's records, and get a lawyer!

One more reason to hope the popularity of the Spyder leads to standalone dealerships.

If they have to invest in selling the product they can't afford to do this kind of thing.

Or else we should all chip in and start franchising Len and his family to build a dealership in each region of the country.

I would say that BRP should hire Len as a Customer/Dealer Service Consultant and put dealers like these in their place and pace the ones that are getting to Cowtown's standards.

Argh...again, what can you sue for? There are no damages...everyone is so sue happy...you cannot sue if there are no damages...period.

I don't understand why everyone is always talking about suing others...

You all are far far to kind, I hate to hear about stuff like this, goes back to the golden rule...treat otheres as you would wish to be treated, we are not the best, but we do try hard to be, occaionaly we fail, and others todo. Someone may have made a mistake, doesn't make it right, and hope you get this worked out. If I can be of any help in any way, please let me know. Till then good luck and thank you all for your support, and all the kind words everyone.

If you have read the history on zzneonzz, he's been over 4 months without rYding. That is not going into the DPS issue. I'm not talking about sueing BRP... they did right by sending the DPS unit because they had on their record it wasn't changed... I'm talking about the dealer for telling the customer that the recall was done while the factory shows no record of it!

I'm not a sue happy person either (I love my wife and her name isn't Sue)... but what I'm saying is that incompetence needs to be addressed. Maybe there was no damages but there is lack of support, wasted $$ and misleading that needs to be taken care of on these people. Suing would be the last resort, but dealers like this need to be a bug up their ear, not only from the customer but from BRP itself.

There should be a limit to the amount of time a bike or any vehicle should be allowed to remain down at a dealership while under warranty or otherwise. I treat my Spyder as my primary mode of transportation and expect it to be serviced and treated the same as if it had four wheels and regular seats in it.

Four months of down time IMO there is no excuse for it, especially if it is a warranty issue. Then to tell a person some work has been done and not done is pathetic and reflects badly on the dealership and ultimately on the brand, because the manufacturer is not supporting their product properly.

Our new bike is a month old to us now and has exactly 900 miles on it. We could have bought a new Mustang GT convertible for the same amount of money we ended up spending on the total package. I'll guarantee you that Ford Motor Company would be all over such a dealership and lengthy down times.

BRP should pull their products from this dealership , this is very wrong what just happened. The DPS is a safety recall item and cannot be fooled with.

I wonder how much attention gets paid to the customer service surveys at BRP? I know Ford Motor Company gets real excited when they get a bad survery in and the dealership gets spanked.

Agree. I find it hard to believe that BRP would let this go unpunished. Maybe they are building a case to pull the franchise.

I note that we do not always name the questionable dealers, but do name the good ones.

I passed my closest dealer to buy from my present dealer. I passed them only on reputation of other riders. (they sell several makes plus Can-Am)

My dealer, South Texas Suzuki, Lytle, TX was not the lowest price when I was shopping, but only by a couple of hundred bucks. Not much in the overall price. They do what they say they will do at reasonable prices.

If you join (at no cost, just show up) the South Texas Spyder Ryders, they give you a discount on labor and parts.

This is much better than a jab in the eye with a sharp stick!

This has been one great big ordeal and I must say so far Carlo at BRP has been a great help in getting things straitened out as well as informing me that this DPS recall had not been performed like i was told it had been.

I'm not going to name the dealer but if you look at my pasts posts throughout the years you will find it i'm sure since i used to speak Highly of this dealership until lately. I think they bit off more than they can chew since now they sell almost every BRP product as well as 2 other major motorcycle brands as well as go karts and all this happened within the last year or so. When i purched they only dealt with 1 motorcycle brand and the can-am 4 wheelers/spyders and then some go karts. And they only picked up 1 extra mechanic since picking up all these extra items.

The new dealership has had my spyder for 3 weeks today (they said they were 2 weeks behind when brp had it towed in) Well they said they will be starting it today (had to shut down the shop for a week to put units together) and so far i'm happy with the communication this dealer has showed me with regards to why its taking so long.

And just to clarify the repairs are waranty repairs!!! And i haven't had it since Jan 10th when i dropped it off.

I did the same thing as you did BR1 I have a dealer that is 5 min from where I live but have had bad service on my snowmobiles in past so I went a dealer that is 45 min away and are very happy with them. Mt new dealer that I bought the Rt from was not the lowest price by any means and is not the lowest price for service either but they do great work and have the customer comes first attitude.

Your preferred dealer should start getting ready for a lot more business. There are several of us (we do talk alot) that have been using the questionable dealer and will be switching over to your dealer. Wish it wasn't so, but lack of communication when a problem arises, and made to feel "second rate" is no excuse. Hey, why not "under promise and over deliver" (ie: Tell me seven days and call me after three)

Don't get me wrong...I agree with you that the frustration is enough to drive someone nuts, but there's no case from a legal standpoint...

BRP should do something nice and charge the dealership for lying and misleading...no question...a price should be paid for deliberate BS...

Wow, some things never cease to amaze me. Telling you the DPS recall was completed when it was not is just crazy. I am very glad to hear that you got Carlo involved in this issue, and BRP had the Spyder moved to a different dealer for the repairs. It sounds like you are happy with them so far, and I definitely hope it stays that way.

Best of luck on getting your Spyder back on the road soon.
