Well my spyder problems are over. alot of people here will probably not agree with, but i only have one person to please... me. I sold my Spyder back to the dealer and purchased a 2011 Kawasaki voyager 1700. I have had enough of the spyder and issue after issue. It handled like a dump truck, in the shop more than i rode it, and the heat it puts off flat sucks. I know i am only one person and many of you love your Spyders and i wish you all many happy days riding, but for me i was not happy with it and did not wish to keep it and see what else it had in store for me down the road.

Thoughts on my RS Problem & Missing Lights & Light Sockets on RT-622 Trailer
I am new Spyder owner and purchased my 2011 RT Limited in April. I noticed the same screeching/squeaking problem coming fm the left side. My dealer could not find the problem at my 600 mile inspection. I have not ridden much since the service, but the problem still persists. I took a short ride today and the noise is getting worse, and a noticed a rattle coming fm the left side as well.
I hope I do not have to trade my Spyder for another bike to get this problem fixed. But I am concerned, because when I purchased my bike, I ordered the RT-622 trailer. After I took delivery of the trailer several weeks later I did a light check on the trailer only to find out that the 4 back-up and blinker lights did not work. When I looked closely, there were no bulbs and no sockets for the lights...just silver tabs where the lights should be. I took pictures and sent them to the dealer. He sent them to BRP, and they asked if there was a wiring harness for the missing lights...that makes me a bit nervous. The dealer will be picking up the trailer tomorrow to figure out the problem. I will be scheduling my Spyder for service for the noise problem tomorrow as well.
As a new Spyder owner my experience w/ regard to BRP quality is a bit shaken at this point.

Hmmm, 1 for sure and sounds like 2 more, is this a new problem revealing itself? Bad oil pumps is something we are going to have to listen for now? I wonder if BRP will ever finance these machines themselves?
In the twisties I was playing the tart...

There is nothing wrong with your trailer. The 2011 trailer is wired for 4-wire operation. It shares the same taillight assembly as the RT, but uses it differently. The backup lights were not functional on the 2010 trailer, either. I suspect that is due to regulatory prohibitions in some locations.

Wow...that's quite the conclusion to this story...take care and be safe on your new ride...did they just never find out what the problem was?

Ongoing Screeching Noise
I put my Spyder RT back in the shop for the same problem...again. This week will be another 3 weeks without my bike. This time they have replaced the belt and Cush drive based on BRP's direction. The problem persisted. The dealer again contacted BRP and they came up with a new proposed fix. BRP believes the engine drive pulley is out of alignment and sent the dealer the spec's to fabricate a special tool to adjust the engine to better align the drive pulley on the engine. I was told the tool when fabricated will allow them to rotate the engine slightly and they believe this will prevent the noise. however, according to the dealer BRP also mentioned they are working on a new coating for the front drive pulley that will reduce friction! Thus eliminating the noise. I am waiting to hear if realigning the engine helped to fix the problem. I purchased the bike in April and it has been in the shop more than it has been with me.
Pls excuse my lack of techno speak.
Any thoughts?

The person that gave you his 2 cents worth over charged you. Just ride the thing until it stops and before hand hope that it doesn't stop in the middle of some desert in Arizona or deep in some canyon. Nothing like a confident ride.

teardown
This is a good one. I think BRP is in a no win situation as far as this topic goes. They want to teardown. Now, it seems most on this site don't think they should. If they were not going to teardown, BRP would be ragged on for not doing enough.
Personally, I agree with the BMW mechanic. Drive it. But, it looks like its past that point now.

Good luck RS Jack. You sure got some excellent advice on both sides of the equation. Very tough decision, either way. Once the initial problem is sorted out, you will love the Spyder.

Did they pull the front sprocket [pulley] and check the main shaft for ware??

When I first got my spyder it was driving me nuts with all the weird noises and was constantly at the dealer..i decided to invest in a good pair of ear plugs and now i just have a ball riding the hell out of it and it seems to perform better and better as the miles mount up..I still have my Harley which i rode today and have to admit it was not half the fun as riding the spyder..just my thoughts

My Spyder only has 1022 miles on it. Hopefully wear is not an issue. BRP instructed the dealer to realign the engine to the front drive pulley. They did this by fabricating a steel bar which they ran through the alignment holes in the engine after loosening the engine mounts, re-aligning the engine and drive pulleys. They replaced the Cush drive and belt as well. After 2 each 3 week stints in the dealers shop, the bike was returned yesterday. However, I still have the same problem, but the screeching noise coming fm the left front of the engine is much less loud. The dealer is now telling me that BRP is looking at either redesigning the belt and or pulley with rounded teeth, to some other design.
At least I have my Spyder back and can again ride. I will see what BRP will do in the future. The dealer did a thorough job of trying to correct the problem. I think I need to get the BRP BEST extended warranty after this experience.

My Spyder squealed from day one, 08GS Many belt adjustments were done by my dealer and me, Never got the squeal out.
At 17,500 miles my sprocket and shaft wore out. New sprocket and shaft now, And guess what No more squeal.
Getting the squeal out only cost me 30+ days and 18 hunderd + dollars.

Sounds like good advice above. Nothing I can add other than keep us posted on what happens.
