RE: Hatchers Pass If you are going to be in Palmer--you should take the drive to the top and back. Your only about 10 miles from the entry road. This part is paved all the way to Independence Mine--then gravel road. I would NOT recommend going over the pass to Willow. it is mostly dirt and pot holed road. The longest 50 miles you would want to drive. The scenery is breathtaking though. (Rocks in the drive belt are not good). I have done it by car--but would not on any kind of motorcycle. Keep on enjoying your trip.
The snow is gone--except for places like Hatchers Pass. It is usually not open beyond Independence Mine (almost the top of the pass) until mid-June. I have been up the pass twice so far this season to Independence Mine.

Hope you're having a good day, Yazz. Your posts give me something to look forward to checking every day. (Haven't seen your new hair-do yet since all your pictures have been of rain/cold riding with your helmet on - still waiting! )

And if you're heading through our part of the country (Southern Oregon via I-5 or 199), be sure to let us know! We'd love to meet you.
It's a great time of season for adventure. Never know what's around the next corner. Enjoy your ryde. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Glad you enjoy the trip!
Don't think we'll be getting into Southern Oregon this trip. But then again, you never know what the coming years will bring.

Thanks for the heads-up. There is so much to explore in Alaska! Its going to be hard to decide what to do in the time allowed.

Every day has been a good day! Even the rainy, snowy ones.
Wearing a helmet of baseball cap all the time now. Have a permanent case of helmet head.

Joy,
What a great trip. I am enjoying all the pictures and your experiences. That is the way to live life, just head out and see what is in store. I can't wait until Brian and I can do this kind of trip, I know we would love it.

Down south in the summer time, the sky is a pale blue. Its a real treat to be in such an intense blue sky.

We did have an itinerary but it got tossed out the window because of the weather. It is much more fun without a plan. We get to where we get to, then decide where to go next.
One of these years y'all will do one. Your Ironbutt ride was awesome! Don't think I could have kept up with you two.

Glad you like the posts. Was told to put lots of pictures in, by a certain individual, not to be identified, but you know who you are. Glad I took the advice.

This is a great blog, thanks again for taking the time to post it, I know it's a lot of work but it's great to look back on when you're stuck at home. You are a hardcore rider.
If your willing to putz down the road with us, you're more than welcome to ride along. Don't think we can put the hours in the saddle that you do though.
Didn't think about saving this as a journal. Just wanted friends and family to follow us on the trip and know we hadn't been eaten by bears.

Oh man, Stevens Pass must have awesome skiing! From where we were, could see a slope that had to be at least a black diamond! The resort wasn't open, but there was still snow on the slopes. Very beautiful area.
